 Anyone who has followed the PCC blog even infrequently will know of my huge admiration of both these artists.

Donna is without any doubt the Queen of Disco and one of the most iconic vocalists of all time.

In a similar vein James Wiltshire aka Jimmy Gomez if one of the very best dance music producers/remixes of his generation.

You bring these two genii together and you have true greatness and this is very much evidenced in this track.

It is undoubtedly the best version of this iconic song which captures Donna's glorious vocals and the trademark Jimmy G spinetingling piano chords.

Used to love this track as a youngster in 1985 and here it is with a wonderful re-working my the genius that is James Wiltshire.

Not a massive re-working to be honest and probably not his finest remix, but it was always a great track and hence anything it enhance it's danceability is good for me.

Great remix through a collaboration between 2 of my all time fave remixers Chris Day (the Chris from Chris & James) and James Wiltshire (aka Jimmy Gomez, Freemasons).

They were without doubt 2 of the stand out remix talents of the 90s.

This collaboration as the Handbag Enthusiasts takes and old Aztec Camera track and gives it some dancefloor edge.

Not quite up there with their very best remixes, but pretty damn good regardless.

There are Brothers In Rhythm and Sasha remixes of this track, but both pale in insignificance to this epic masterpiece.

Those of who who follow the PCC blog will be well aware of my penchant for Jimmy Gomez remixes and I'm glad to report this is right up there with the best of them.

It takes you on the usual journey and is laden with spine-tingling piano.

Careful With Me

Horse's 'Careful' was first released in 1990 and constituted a pop-ballad number. Some years later it was picked up by Sasha who delivered one of the remixes of his career with the illustrious 'Sasha's horse with no name'. The track was eventually signed to Stress (whose A&R always had an ear for a killer track) and further remixes issued from Brothers In Rhythm, Jimmy Gomez and Sasha himself. The Gomez mix is my personally favourite, foregrounding a vocal which is emotive, hugely distinctive and expertly blended into the lush, epic soundscape. Gomez's ambient mix, credited to James Wiltshire, is also worthy of a listen.

Now I don't usually post current tracks on the blog, but couldn't resist this one.

Living proof that there is still quality dance music being made and that the legend of Jimmy G is still knocking out great remixes.
This is under his Feemasons monicker, it's not quite up there with Jimmy Gomez remixes, but it's a damn fine remix from Mr Wiltshire.
Probably the biggest club tune of 2011?
I haven't heard much bigger.
However, if you have, then let me know.
This is a piece of floating bliss, with some great great synth stabs and some lovely breathy vocal snippets and some lovely piano.
A top, top tune.
It's gets better every time you play it.

Here's another fantastic remix that is the genius of Jimmy Gomez (aka James Wiltshire).
The man has produced some of the finest remixes in dance music history.
All are epic journeys, which blend wonderful tempo changes, fantastic piano breakdowns and huge hands in the air moments.
Like Brothers in Rhythm remixes, they all build and build and then explode.
This is what IMHO makes them all so great.
If you compare them with for example a lot of remixes Sasha did. Sasha's stuff would build and build but never seem to get anywhere and never peak, leading to real sense of disappointment and frustration.
BiR and Jimmy G perfected the art of building and building and then blowing the roof off.
This is another awesome, awesome remix.
Fantastic from start to finish.
Respect to Jimmy G - a man of true genius!!

I've raved (no pun intended) many times on the PCC blog about the supreme quality of Jimmy Gomez remixes.
IMHO there is only Brothers In Rhythm remixes which surpass Jimmy G for pure quality.
Which puts Jimmy G (aka James Wiltshire, aka (one half of) Freemasons) up there as my No.2 all time favourite remixer (after BiR).
Check this out and you will understand why.
This remix is absolutely pure quality from start to finish - it takes you on a complete journey, through peaks, breakdowns, fantastic vocals "I know, I know, I know, I  know", amazing tempo changes, horns and wonderful melodic piano riffs.
Simply fantastic!!

I certainly hope so.
Here's a cracking track from 1995 and another which used to be a big fave of mine.
I believe Jimmy Gomez (and Gordon Kaye) was behind this, hence it probably explains why it's so good.
It's a really lively vibey track, pumped full of energy and bouncy rhythms.

"How Can I Love You More" indeed!!!

Now anyone who visits this blog regularly will know of my huge liking to the vocal talents of Ms Heather Small and the fantastic tracks created by Hacienda DJ legend Mike Pickering under his M-People guise.
Add some wonderful remixes to many of their tracks and you have dancefloor heaven.
Here are 2 of the finest examples of this.
Back in 1991 - M-People released "How Can I Love You More" and it was a great track dying for a good remix. Trouble was the remixes IMHO were dull and uninspriring and didn't bring a great track to life on the dancefloor. "Sasha's Master Mix" was dull and didn't really peak, but he then created the "Qat Mix" which took the track to another level.
It's taken a while to track a clean version of this down, but big thanks to Tom Ferguson from Galaxy FM and Wee Ste, who both provided the track on the same day, after I'd been searching for a clean version for ages.
The Qat remix is a real belter, it builds and then really explodes.
As an additional treat I've also included the "Jimmy Gomez 6am Remix", which is stunning. Very much in usual Jimmy G stylee, it builds and builds and is layered with some equisite piano, very impressive indeed.
Which version is best?? I'd probably say the Jimmy Gomez remix, but both tracks are very special.

A big shout out to Roberto for tracking this one down for me.
It's been on my "most wanted" list for quite a few months and originally came from a request from somebody.
To be honest I can't remember who requested it, but anyway here it is.
The track is an absolute stormer.
Be patient with it as it takes a while to build, but like most Jimmy Gomez remixes, it is immense and really hits the spot. Enjoy!!

Great to see that Jimmy G is still turning out quality!!

It's hard to believe that I only really became aware of Jimmy Gomez remixes about 6 months ago. Yes, I'd heard loads of the tracks he'd remixed out in clubs, without knowing he was behind the remixes. Well in that 6 months I've managed to track down most of his back catalogue and I have to say the man is on another level to most remixers.

In fact IMHO the only remixers that surpass him are Brothers In Rhythm who are the absolute Numero Uno. I'm caught between Chris and James and Jimmy Gomez for my second favourite, but think that Jimmy Gomez just edges, because virtually all his remixes just hit exactly the right spot. Mind you Jimmy Gomez aka James Wiltshire also collaborated with Chris and James on quite a few mixes and put stuff out together under The Delorme monicker.

About this track, it's pretty recent 2005 and it has a really beautiful vocal and just a really lovely atmospheric feel throughout the track. A real quality track.

Right that reminds me I was going to do a fave remixers poll.

I'm not one for Superficial People!!!!

I'm very much one for keeping it real and hence don't like Superficial People, but I certainly like this.

Another great Jimmy Gomez remix. James Wiltshire sure did produce some quality stuff under the Jimmy Gomez monicker.

The DMC was a great breeding school for talented remixers, what with Jimmy G, BiR, Chris and James, there must have been something in the water there!!

This one is sprinkled with fantastic piano breakdowns and a slightly repetitive vocal, but nonetheless another fine track courtesy of Jimmy G.

Well, I'm sure you'll going to love this. This is a result of two of my favourite remixers coming together to produce a fast paced stomping classic.

Full respect to Messrs Day and Wiltshire - another fine piece of musical work from you chaps.

This one sort of drives and drives in a bit of a Hi-NRG stomping Luvdup type manner, hence very much different to the usual style of Chris and James or Jimmy Gomez remixes we are used to hearing from these two dance music legends.

However a very catchy trac which I'm sure would have gone down well in the likes of Vague etc.

The track has a really great "movie soundtrack" ending, which I'm sure is sampled from somewhere. Can anyone think where??

Here he is on top form. Don't Brand New Heavies just sound great when remixed well.

This one isn't quite up there with Back to Love or the BiR remix of Spend Some Time.

Now the original version of this track is one of my all time favourite tracks (and it was one of the first tracks I posted on this blog .

I voted it No.5 in my all time favourite club classics and I stand by that position.

The original version is one of those tracks, which what can I say, it just takes you there (to another place). It's a pretty simple track, but at the same time stunning and so, so emotional.

Hence, when I realised that one of my favourite remixers Jimmy Gomez had done a remix of it, I was let's say, intrigued to track it down.

So, a huge shout out to a big contributor to this blog - Wee-Ste - you're a legend pal, keep on finding those on the most wanted list for me bud. Muchos appreciated!!

Wee-Ste - was responsible for tracking down the Jimmy Gomex remix of this track and while I feel it would be impossible to improve on the original version, the Jimmy G remix is still pretty hot, no in fact it's really, really good.

I've also upped the Biff & Memphis remix which is very cheesy and I really shouldn't like it but I do, as it's still catchy as hell.

All in all it's just a brilliant track and all 3 mixes provide something different. I first posted the original back in February - doesn't time fly when you're having fun.

Now for the Second Contest of the Night!!

Ding Ding Round Two.

This time it's a match of my other favourite heavyweight contenders.

In the red corner we have Brothers in Rhythm the reigning world champions - the greatest remixers to walk this land vs. Jimmy Gomez in the Blue corner as the undisputed underdog(vying with Chris and James as my second favourite remixers ever).

It's a David vs. Goliath match - with Jimmy Gomez being the underdog.

Who's gonna win?

The track is good, but not amazing and in my mind it's only the quality of the remixers that push it into PCC status.

The BiR remix, threatens to explode but then never really does, although it's a fabulous piece of production and a really lovely track.

The Jimmy Gomez remix has in my opinion that little bit of extra kick, it's just a bit more enticing, a bit catchier.

In all it's very close, but I have to say the Jimmy Gomez remix just shades it (and I mean just) ever so slightly. Again it's a split decision but the UK judge scores it slightly in the favour of JG.

What's your opinion. I'll stick a poll up for a bit of fun (and also for the D-Ream track).

3 PCC's in 1 Post!!!

Now those that follow this blog will know of my liking for Chris and James dance music talents. Not only were those guys great DJ's they also made some truly outstanding remixes. Their style was very much creating something which worked fantastically on the dancefloor. Chris was also part of The Delorme working alongside James Wiltshire (a.k.a Jimmy Gomez) and hence when you get 2 of my favourite remixers working together you know you're gonna get something special (all that's missing would have been for BiR to team up with them as well. LOL).
This track is a truly stupendous piano laden monster, with great vocals, breakdowns, just a perfect club track.
It reminds me of Debbie Malone - Rescue Me (which has been posted on the blog previously). It's those opening lines "I need your love tonight, ooh baby".
It also very much reminds me of Suzi Carr - All Over Me - which isn't too surprising as this was remixed by The Delorme also.
Hence, I've decided to post all 3 - as all 3 are true club classics and huge piano stormers. Hence there you go 3 for 1.
