Dear Fellow Dance Music Lovers,
This blog brings you the best in Dance Music and Club Classics; from early 87 (back in the daze) through to the present day.
For all those who rocked it all night until the early hours, to those that lived for clubbing and couldn't wait for the weekend to arrive. Enjoy and leave any comments on the blog or contact direct by email at pureclubclassics@live.co.uk
A really nice dance reworking of the legendary Al Stewart track which has one of the most famous piano riffs, probably alongside Bruce Hornsby's.
This uses that great piano very effectively and adds some nice pulsing beats.
Probably not one for the purists, but I think it is very catchy and yes very commercial but still very pleasing on the ear which is what it's all about.
Enjoy!
P.S. I've no knowledge of a Jody Negro, which could well be a contrived name, but doubt it is the great man aka Dave Lee/Joey Negro.
Two corking old skool tracks from 1991 on a double A white label, both are killer tracks which would smash up any decent club dancefloor.
These two should have been much bigger as they are both really great tracks, filled with banging piano and perfect to create total dancefloor delirium.
I don't particular remember hearing them played out back int'day but know they would still go down a storm.
Any young DJs out there who are looking for a unique track send their crown wild, look no further.
Compulsion has some really spellbinding piano, but don't overlook Razor Happy which is also razor sharp!.
There is no finer moment in dance music than hearing the wonderful ethereal vocals of the uber talented Ms Martin against a great club remix which has lots of builds, drops and awesome piano.
Billie's voice has captivated me every since I first heard her early Electribe 101 tracks.
This track is just epic courtesy of a great Diggers remix, very BT-esque!
Just delightful - dare I say it "music to my ears"
Robert Miles will always be known for this track "Children" which although terribly overplayed and now deemed very commercial was pretty ground breaking at the time back in 1995.
This is very similar but was less played and certainly less well known but has a nice feel and flow with many of the same characteristics of Children, but feels easier to listen to and fresher.
The whole dream music scene which was created had lots of similar tracks, that still sound great 30 years on.
I'd totally forgot about this one, but it's no real surprise that it is such a corker when you consider that it combines the remix and music talents of Tin Tin Out and Tall Paul.
Most certainly Good Fello's.
This is a lively throbbing piano corker which jsut gets better the longer it goes on and then further explodes with an avalance of piano.
A corking trance track which was a huge Oakey track back int' day and later became immortalised from the hilarious but very credible Kevin & Perry film.
It's hard not to listen to it now without thinking "all I want to do is do it".
That shouldn't however detract from the epic nature of this track and is just a piece of trance brilliance.
It has one of the all time great piano breakdowns, which always sounds amazing!
Sit, back, relax and enjoy or even better get up and dance!
Róisín is one of the best female vocalists of recent times and Paul Woodhead loves a banging piano remix, hence the outcome is a great track with a great vibe and pretty fierce at the same time.
I bet this sounded great in a club with the volume jacked up.
I'd delved into a few real oldies with my last 3 posts which had an accumulative age of about 130 years dance history.
This one is quite a bit more recent but still coming in at over 30 years old.
Still sounds great though and was one of those tracks from that era that drew on many great samples and hooks and put them altogether to create a great track.
Great piano hook from "Sound Factory's Good Time" which has been posted on the blog previously and of course the even more well known Lisa Stansfield vocal sample.
One of Michael's less played tracks put a superb one and great remix.
People seem to have forgot about the genius of Michael, but he was one of the greatest music icons of any generation up there with Elvis, The Beatles, it's a shame his legacy hasn't quite pulled through in the same way.
This track is just splendid with a great remix by Tommy Musto and some great piano.
Classic MJ - very sadly missed - but legendary status eternal!
In my opinion she was always the most talented/only talented Spice Girl.
She always had a strong vocal and great that she is now DJing, although I can't profess I've ever heard any of her sets, so I can't really comment on her DJ skills or track selection.
This is a pretty epic track though courtesy another fine Hex Hector remix.
That guy really new how to create a banging 10 minute remix.
This brings Mel's vocals out superbly and provides a banging floor filler.
One of the truly great tracks of it's time courtesy of the legendary Pete Namlook and still sounding amazing today.
This was right at the forefront of the progressive house scene way back in 1993 and could also be classed as one of the very first and finest trance tracks.
The track was produced by the genius of
The Northern Mix is a little slower in tempo than the Southern Mix and is my favourite of the two.
However, it was the Southern Mix which really brought this track to prominence as it was a key part of Oakey's trailblazing Goa Mix.
In fairness both remixes are amazing, pounding, banging, throbbing and with that catchy little whistling hookline.
In one work - immense!
It was of course much copied and sampled most notably by Kaycee - Escape later in the 90's but it was never a patch on the original.
There was also a decent remix by Signum which I've included.
