Love this from 1991 and great remix as per usual from Phil Kelsey.

Ruby was a great vocalist and this is a quality piece of old skool house music.

It has a very similar feel to an E-Smoove type remix, lots of great vibe and great piano.

Certainly an underplayed classic and one which should have had more dance floor air time.

I always thought Dina was a fantastic vocalist and although she had a certain degree of success, I always thought her talent deserved better.

That said, this is her fifth appearance on the PCC blog, so at least we rate her highly.

This is a great classic house track from 1993, great vocals, fantastic piano and a high quality remix as we'd expect from Phil Kelsey.

At first I was afraid, I was petrified!

Possibly one of the most well know (and most overplayed) dance tracks, but that shouldn't detract from it's brilliance as it is truly a PCC.

Especially as it is is almost 50 years old and was originally released in 1978.

This is a great remix by Phil Kelsey from 1993 who pays great respect to the original vibe of the track, but just it that extra bit of dancefloor punch.

It's still a favourite track of mine and one I always enjoy hearing.

As soon as you hear "At first I was afraid, I was petrified", you're in heaven!

 Love this track from 1992 which was very original at the time from Phil Kelsey.

A superb remix by Brothers in Rhythm, Dave Seaman and Steve Anderson under their Creative Thieves moniker.

This one twists and turns with lots of familiar samples and some great touches of piano.

Still sounds great nearly 30 years on.

Another massive piano moment, this time from 1992. Italian artiste Jinny brought us the better-known 'Keep Warm' in '91, which proved a momentous crossover hit some four years later upon its reissue on the Multiply label. 'Never Give Up', released on Faze 2, is a straight-up Italo-dance affair in its original form, taken to extremes by Phil Kelsey, whose remix pares down the vocal and injects a monstrously dramatic piano breakdown.

Badda, Da Da, Ba Badda, Da Da, Ba Badda Ho, Badda Ho!!!!

Well that's what I used to sing anyway.
Simple Minds were one of my favourite bands from the 80's.
At the time they were right up there with U2 on a par as probably the best rock band going!!
Then along came Patsy Kensit - that great marriage wrecker and destroyer of great bands.
She married Dan Donavan - Big Audio Dynamite soon split, up she married Jim Kerr (Simple Minds), they then split up, She married Liam Gallagher - Oasis split up. Spot the recurring theme!!
She them married Jeremy Healy and they have since split up.
It strikes me that Ms. Kensit must be bloody high maintenance!!!
Anyway enough of all that - about the track.
Well of course it is very much based on Simple Minds fantastic track Alive and Kicking - which was a massive Stadium Rock classic and one of my fave Simple Minds tracks.
This version uses the the riff very effectively with some great tinkly piano which helps to retain the power of the song and the emotion.
It then brings in that famous singalong "Badda, Da Da,  Ba Badda, Da Da, Ba Badda Ho, Badda Ho!!!!".
It also retains most of the vocals which makes it great to single to.
There's even some really nice cheesy synth thrown in for good measure.
All in all a great remix from Phil Kelsey.
I've never heard this in a club, but could imagine it going down a treat last track of the night, as the lights come on and everyone is singing along in ecstatic bliss. Nice!!!
All in all a really effective dance working of an all time rock classic.

Some more wonderful house music!!!

Sticking on the house vibe people, get a load of this one.
It's another huge favourite of mine and is a simply divine piece of house music from 1991. A superb re-working of the old Phyliss Hyman track.
Superb vocals, a delightful little skippy house beat and some divine piano.
It sounds very much like a Diana Ross track, but house-ified!!
It's probably no surpise it's so good when you consider who is behind the track.
Steve Anderson producing and Dave Seaman and Phil Kelsey on the remix - the perfect recipe for wonderful dance music.
I just love this one, beautiful laid back house music at it's every best!!

Let's get a little bit Progressive!!!

Erasure on the PCC blog what's going on??

But hey wait a minute, this is pure quality.

For those of you who like their Progressive House a little on the dark side, a la Leftfield, React 2 Rhythm, DOP etc, then you'll love this.

It's remixed by Phil Kelsey and is a 13 minute plus monster and very, very good. As mentioned pretty dark, but very intense, earthy and atmospheric.

It may take couple of listens for it to really hit you, but when it does it'll knock you for 6.

Another great bit of rapping from the huge talent that was MC Kinky, then you get a huge piano breakdown.

I totally love the end of the track as well, it seems if it's just fading out for ages and then all of a sudden kicks back in and then fades again.

A bloody impressive track and Erasure are nowhere to be seen.

A Big Up for the Luv Bug!!!

Well we're certainly on the old skool vibe tonight and here comes another huge classic.
A big shout out to Big JC for reminding me to post this one.
It's another huge fave of mine and yes it is from the same Together - who gave us the legendary Hardcore Uproar!!
It has some wonderful piano all the way throughout coupled with a delightful little riff, that repeats through the track.
I know that you'll all love this one. How could you not!!!
