Make room for me!

 There was a period in the early 90's when everything Leftfield touched was pure gold.

They were right at the forefront of the progressive house movement and their tracks from that time were awesome.

However, it was a bit of an eyeopener when they teamed up with John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten former lead singer and front man of the notorious punk rockers The Sex Pistols.

Fear not the collaboration was just amazing and created a real top notch club track.

This one went down a treat on the dancefloor and brings back great memories of Back To Basics in Leeds in 1993.

Huge track from 1991.

This was one of those tracks which was played for months in clubs, by all the top jocks.

Leftfield were going through a real purple patch with their remixes and everything they touched at that time was dancefloor gold and so in the moment of that early 90's clubland vibe.

31 years on this still sounds superb.

Another one I used to love back in the day.
This was a huge track at Back To Basics in Leeds in 1992.
It really epitomised the spirit of a lot of the music coming out at that time.
The piano tunes of the old skool days as we knew it were no longer played out and the onset of progressive house and harder edged tracks were very much in vogue.
This was a typical example of one of those tracks and along with tracks likeFunky Guitar and Rhythm de Londres were storming examples of the new music coming through, with that great looping opening!

"Oh I Wanna Dance With Somebody"!!!!!

Right on Whitney.
Here's a couple of absolute belters for you all, with thanks to the wonderful Whitney, her of the amazing vocal talents.
First up is a really great piano laden monster from P.C.P. that absolutely rocks, featuring Whitney's fine vocals. The intro is absolutely lush - pure excellence!!
The overall track is a real piano stomper - Huge!!!
Next up is a huge Sasha mash up before mash up's even existed. He used to mix the two tracks Whitney's acappella of I Wanna Dance With Somebody over the top of Leftfield's Not Forgotten to fantastic effect. In those days Sasha was the God, there was no one to touch him.

Hallelujah - it's Friday night!!!

Evening all and welcome to the weekend. 

Apologies for the lack of activity on the blog this week, but I've been away for a few days.

Hallelujah -its now the weekend and what better to kick it off, then with a huge club classic from on of the most prominent and consistently good dance acts of the late 80's and 90's - Inner City - the combination of the musical genius of Kevin Saunderson (pictured) and the superb vocals of Paris Grey.

This ones another corker and a huge PCC fave. I used to listen to this time and again on an old DJ mix tape back in 1992 - however that version was pitched up to go with the track it was being mixed into.

Then when I listen to this version it seems a little slow. Still all the same a great track and a true PCC, thanks to a superb Leftfield remix.
