Happy Christmas 2025!

Quite possibly one of my favourite Christmas songs and possibly the only credible Christmas song which could be granted PCC status.

I've always loved everything Saint Etienne right from the very beginning  back in 1990 with their epic first two releases "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" and "Kiss and Make Up" which I still have both on 12".

Since then have continued to produce brilliant Indie Pop records which when remixed have produced some fantastic PCCs which have already been posted.

This track is a great jolly and energetic dance/pop track with great vocals (as always) by Sarah Cracknell and joined by Tim Burgess (lead singer and frontman of The Charlatans).

Happy Christmas one and all!

When morning comes!

Surprised I've not posted this one before, must have been an oversight on my part.

It's just such a fantastic track from 1999.

Trance as we know and love it which was just PVD's bag and the amazing Saint Etienne vocals from the ethereal Sarah Cracknell.

A match made in music heaven.

Love it when it really kicks off and increases in intensity and tempo.

Enjoy!

Someday, someday!

My love for Saint Etienne will always be everpresent.

They were without doubt one of the best Indie Dance bands of their generation.

I remember buying all their 12" releases in the early 90's and still have they in my collection. I then played Fox Based Alpha to death when that was released.

The ingenuity of Wiggs and Stanley was off the scale and the vocals of Sarah Cracknell were just heavenly (although they had a few diffferent female vocalists on some of their earlier tracks).

I've already posted lots of their tracks on the blog, this is probably one of their most commercial and less underground, but it is just a glorious track, so full of life and so energy and just so pleasant to listen to, one that never fails to bring a smile to one's face.

The lyrics and story in this are also great.

Life's for enjoying and listening to this is always a joyful moment!

Got the cash, feeling flash in Leicester Square!

I was always thinking...

I know I've already posted this track before, but it was different versions and as it is one of my all time favourite tracks (we even played it on our wedding day at the night do!), it is worthy of posting again.

This is the Richard X remix which differs to the original and the Weatherall remix, yet almost complements both of them.

It brings something else, but still retains that brilliant feel of the original.

A real timeless classic, that vocal by Moira Lambert will always melt me.

Stunningly gorgeous!

And now ladies and gentlemen - what you've been waiting for!

I've always been a huge fan of Saint Etienne and Messrs Wiggs and Stanley were most certainly creative music genii.

Add Sarah Cracknell's heavenly vocals and you have pop music perfection.

This track is probably more Indie Dance, then club dance floor, but in my view it is better than all the house mixes and the MAW remixes didn't really add anything other than a 4-4 beat.

I've never felt so good, I've never felt so strong!

Glorious - Indie Dance at it's finest!

Nobody knows what's going on in my mind...but me!

Love Saint Etienne and love Way Out West so logic says I should love this and glad to report I do.

In all honesty, it's probably not their best work for either of them, but it's still a pretty epic track and certainly hits the spot.

Very much in the WOW remix style which we know and love, with a little bit of Sarah's glorious vocal adding that extra je ne sais quoi!

Nobody knows what's going on in my mind...but me!

Spellbinding!!

Always totally loved Saint Etienne!
Cracking football team in the '70's and also a cracking pop band in the 90's.
When their tracks were remixed they created masterpieces.
This is one such track.
Superb remix by Kris Needs.
Spell-bindingly beautiful!
Exquisite IMHO!!

Very enthusiastic about this one!!

Another fantastic Trouser Enthusiast's mix.
Saint Etienne were always one of my fave pop bands, their music was always great.
Messrs Wiggs and Stanley - were true pop genius!
I love Sarah Cracknell's vocals too.
Mix this up with the pumping trance remix maestro's that are the Trouser Enthusiasts and you have a bona fide club classic.
Pumpin' and drivin' from the first minute until the last.
Awesome!!

Let's kiss and make up!!!

I'd promised before to post some more Indie dance on the blog and although these tracks were not always played at the peak of the night, they still found there way onto many of the nations dancefloors at certain times.
This was and still is a track which I absolutely love.
I remember buying the vinyl 12" in 1990 and playing it to death. I've still got it as well, although it's a bit battered.
Saint Etienne, Mssrs Stanley and Wiggs were masters at turning covers into fabulous, vibey, delicious pop/dance tracks.
This is absolutely lush, with delightful vocals by Donna Savage (before Sarah Cracknall became lead singer), with that fantastic skippy piano beat.
"Let's kiss and make up, let's kiss and make up"
"Let's you and I, kiss and make up"
From start to finish this track is pop/dance perfection.
I love it!!!

Happy Christmas to one and all!!!

Happy Christmas to you all out there.
I sincerely hope that you have a good one.
Until now I've resisted posting some of my favourite "Indie dance" tracks , but feel the time is about right to unleash some of these monster tracks.
This is one of my faves by a group which were totally unique and very ahead of their time back in the day (there'll be more of their tracks posted in the future) .
This one dates back to 1990 and is a cover of an old Neil Young song.
The single/album version is my favourite, which contains beautiful vocals, a superb melody, flowing piano and that great chuggy indie dance beat.
The Weatherall remix is a true PCC, very chilled.
The sample "the DJ eases a spliff from his lyrical lips and smilingly orders cease" is one which went down in clubland history and was also used on Oakey's Goa Mix if I remember correctly.
P.S. In line with the Christmas spirit there are no passwords for these links.
Enjoy!!
