 This is just so good on so many levels.

Firstly a great re-working by Messrs Farley and Heller under their Fire Island guise.

Then there is those fantastic vocals by the legendary Loleatta.

The track in itself is a great cover of a very good Style Council track from 1985.

To top it all off, it's had a great refresh and resprinkle by HiFi Sean, which adds extra life and energy.

Quality co-labs going on all over the place on this.

Love this, Loleatta's vocal are on another level - I'm not sure there is another vocalist who can hit her heights.

Great remix by Terence Parker who is usually pretty spot on.

Totally love this remix from 2009 which is absolutely stomping.

I'm not usually a big fan of remixes of absolute classics, because 90% of the time they fail to improve the already "classic status" of the original. 

However, this adds new fizz, new verve and new excitement while retaining lots of the elements which made the original great.

A totally superb remix.

Big fan of this track, just a slice of great house music, thanks to a cracking remix.

Just lovely in style, very relaxed but very catchy.

Bimbo Jones does some cracking remixes, with lush piano.

The amazing vocals of Loleatta are stand out also.

Here I come!

This was huge back in '94 and was especially widely played by the likes of JoPW and TWA.

There's not too much of Loleatta's actually singing, it just vocal snippets and samples, but it was very catchy and very much part of that "Glammer House" type era.

It always went down very well on the dancefloor in the likes of Cream, Back To Basics, Vague etc.

Salsoul Sensation

The recent passing of Donna Summer put me in mind of another disco legend who left the land of the living last year. Though she has already been tributed on these pages, the peerless contribution of Loleatta Holloway to the club classics canon surely warrants further recognition. Rather than posting some of the usual suspects - Cevin Fisher, Black Box, Cappella, Lenny Fontana - which predominately sample different parts of the vocal from 'Love Sensation', here are a few rather more obscure examples of Ms Holloway's original recordings, including the highly apposite 'No Apology'. What an incredible voice; her ubiquity spanned literally decades, from Salsoul to Fire Island to Sunshine State; from Dan Hartman to Melted Artists to Johnny Vicious. I include the tribal house remix of 'Shout to the Top' by Club 69 on account of the fact that this is the version I remember boogeying on down to back in '98.

All Good Strings...

You may remember this track from the caning it used to receive on Sky Sports. You may also recollect it owing to its appearance on the 'Adventures in Tin Tin Out Land EP' which surfaced in the summer of '96. Following the release of the aforementioned extended player, 'Strings For Yasmin' took on a life of its own, its popularity culminating in a single release in 1997. It's a great example of dramatic trance belter replete with orchestration and a bit of opera chucked in for good measure. Tin Tin Out did some jaw-droppingly good remixes in their day, but their own productions were generally pretty decent.

Tribute to one of the vocals of our time!!

You may be aware that Loleatta Holloway passed away this week, hence this track is posted as a tribute to one of the finest female vocalists to have graced the dance music scene.
Everyone will have their own favourite Loleatta track, like "Relight My Fire", "Hit and Run" or "Love Sensation", not to mention all the Black Box tracks which plagiarised her vocals.
This track was originally released way back in 1984 with a superb vocal from Loleatta, however it is the house remake which I like best (which I don't think is actually Loleatta on the vocal).
It is fast funky, contains some wonderful storming piano and is truly anthemic.
It's a truly awesome track.
In fact they are both truly wonderful tracks in the own right.
R.I.P. Queen of the Vocal!!!

A special tribute to a fantastic person!!!

It's with great sadness that I learn of the passing away of a fantastic person who was a great contributor to the blog and shared many great tracks with me.

I know this track has been posted on the blog before, but it is posted again in tribute to Allison as it was one of her favourites (and one of mine too).

Allison you were an extremely special person and someone with a fantastic passion for wonderful dance music.

Rest In Peace - you will never be forgotten.
