This was huge back in '94 and was especially widely played by the likes of JoPW and TWA.
There's not too much of Loleatta's actually singing, it just vocal snippets and samples, but it was very catchy and very much part of that "Glammer House" type era.
It always went down very well on the dancefloor in the likes of Cream, Back To Basics, Vague etc.
"Do you want me to come downstairs with rollers in my hair!
Whilst "Point Zero" quite rightly took all the plaudits as it was a truly sensational track and is already posted on the PCC blog lurking on the flip side was this monster.
As you can imagine huge in the gay clubs and big JoPW fave.
This was pretty spectacular when dropped and would create total dancefloor delirium.
Still sounds great to day and is so representative of that 1994 clubbing era.
An absolutely belting track, given a glorious working over by the sensational JotPW.
A top track this one.
If you like your trance deep down and dirty, this one's for you!
JotPW was a complete ledge, back in the day. Top jock in a frock!
Many of his sets were pure quality and at the time he was certainly one of the most exciting DJ's on the circuit!
Eurogroove - It's On You (Scan Me) (Jon Of The Pleased Wimmin Club Mix)
......people should be dancing to this.
Best track East 17 ever produced, although not much of them on it.
A big Jon of The Pleased Wimmin track back int'day.
A stomper of a track.
Enjoy!!
I'm testing my credibility here, but staying on the Minogue sisters vibe.
Yeah, I know this is poppy as hell, but I remember hearing Jon of Pleased Wimmin drop it when I was on the floor at Back 2 Basics and it absolutely set the place alight.
It's all about the timing!!
Kylie Minogue - What Do I have To Do (Pumpin' Mix)
Perfecto Records were riding
the crest of a wave in ’96 with a succession of wondrous trance-tinged releases
from artists and producers such as Grace, Jelle Boufon, BT and Tilt. ‘Give Me
Strength’ surfaced in the late spring as the anticipated follow-up to Jon
Pleased Wimmin’s first and best-known production ‘Passion’. ‘Give Me Strength’
is a pounding number encapsulating Oakenfold’s vision for his label, and is
augmented by the presence of Sister Bliss on co-production duties. Vocals come
courtesy of Bliss’s label-mate Penny Shaw, whose operatic warbling graced two
of my favourite Cheeky releases – ‘Give Me Life’ by Mr V and the legendary
‘Love, Love, Love’ by Rollo Goes Mystic.
Jon Pleased Wimmin – Give Me
Strength (Slammin’ Mix)
I seem to remember Jon of Pleased Wimmin dropping this at the end of an Essential Mix which he did for Radio 1.
These were the sort of tracks which used to make your night when dropped last track of the night in a club.
They ain't got nothing to do with dance music, but they sound wonderful if dropped at the right time in a club.
This one is a balearic classic matey's!!
Now anybody who ever heard Jeremy Healy play out in clubland circa 1994 will have most definitely heard him finish his set with this track.
It's probably the most unlikely club track imaginable but somehow it just worked.
I remember many a night when me and my clubbing posse just simply lost it when this came on.
Now Healy wasn't the greatest DJ in the world and his sets always contained the same old stuff, a bit of rap, a few Michael Jackson tracks, but the guy had great enthusiasm and was a great entertainer.
Shortly after the Tinman track came out, which used the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" riff and was a great club record, due to another great remix from Chris and James.
"Everybody, rock the house live"
"Everybody, rock ---on"
I remember this record being hammered by the likes of Jon of Pleased Wimmin.
Both tracks bring back some great memories, so I hope you enjoy!!
Possibly one of the cheesiest tracks I've posted on the blog, but that doesn't stop it being a great track and well worthy of being posted.
This was a huge favourite in the camper clubs back in 1995.
It was huge at Vague in Leeds and was a track absolutley hammered by Jon of the Pleased Wimmin (who also did a remix of the track - which wasn't as good as this original mix).
It might well be cheesy, but you can't help but like it.
A big thank you to all those of you who voted on the poll.
They were some pretty clear results and some surprises in there as well.
Not surprisingly there was a big response to not having password protected download links, with 57% of voters requesting no passwords.
This is quite a complex issue and this is where I'm coming from;
Blogging is extremely time intensive, all bloggers do it for the love of the music and absolutely zero financial gain, all we ever ask is for a little feedback and now and again some positive comments if there is a particular track or feature that you've liked.
I added passwords to the links for 2 main reasons, one being that I thought it would give the blog more longevity and help to prevent it from being closed down and secondly as it was one way of getting people to leave their comments, feedback and experiences of some of the fantastic tracks which are posted. This has proved pretty successful in that people have left good feedback on the tracks, although some people have reported it as being a pain and a hassle.
So there is still an ever increasing desire to have no passwords for the downloads, however when I recently posted the 6 Michael Jackson links on Saturday, within 4 days there has been a total of 624 downloads with one track "Smooth Criminal" being downloaded 134 times.
That means at least 134 people have downloaded that track and not one single person has had the courtesy to leave a comment or to provide some feedback. Now I'm not expecting 134 comments, but it' gets to the stage when you think what is the value in keeping the blog going and "what's in it for me".
This is not a dig at everyone, there has been some wonderful feedback and some great contributors to the blog, however blogging is not a public service and I'm starting to question the future value of keeping the blog going.
There you have it, you have my thoughts on the matter.
As a compromise and to gauge future reaction I will post new posts without any passwords.
If feedback and comments are positive I will continue in this vein going forward.
I look forward to hearing any further views.
Now to end on a positive note, I present to you with yet another fantastic choon!!
This is very similar to the original version by Denise Johnson (which came out in 1994), this one came 2 years later, but in my opinion far surpasses it. It is an amazing version with a truly fantastic remix by Jon of the Pleased Wimmin. The piano in this is absolutely awesome.
This is one that both the old skool and the nu skool possees will love.
You can almost feel the energy in the track, it builds and builds, then the piano kicks in in the background.
It was one of those tracks hammered by DJ's like Jon of Pleased Wimmin.
This one was a Jon of Pleased Wimmin fave. There was a period in about 94 when his music absolutely rocked. I remember this one well at Cream. Wait for this one to kick in. Bangin!!!
