Chaka vs. Whitney

Two fantastic vocal divas and two fantastic tracks.

The original Chaka version was from 1974, with this remix from 1978.

The Whitney version has a superb remix by C&C and came out in 1993.

Which is best?

IMHO they are both great, but I think the Whitney version just edges it, mainly courtesy of the great C&C remix and as good as Chaka's vocals are, nobody can out-sing Whitney!

Chaka Khan- I'm Every Woman

(12" Club Mix)

Whitney Houston - I'm Every Woman

(Clivilles And Cole House Mix 1)

No really, it is pretty good!

I hated Snap but this was a great track and perhaps the only good thing they did.

A really great hypnotic progressive track , with some vocals which for once are bearable.

So much better than all the commercial pop stuff they did.

This was pretty ahead of it's time back in 1993.

Snap ! - Exterminate
(A.C. II 12" Mix)

I'm never gonna dance again!

A really great re-working of the George Michael classic.

Sarah is a great vocalist and the piano in this is superb.

It's never easy remixing such well known classics, but this is a pretty damn fine attempt.

I'm never gonna dance again! - Yeah right!

Sarah Washington - Careless Whisper

(Almighty 12" Pop'd Up Mix)

I will strike down upon thee....!

A real stomper of a track with some incessant, (but very nice) piano.

Another track to use the Samuel L Jackson Pulp Fiction sample.

This ones from 1995 and is quite a mixture of all sorts. It doesn't really follow any formula just lots of great sounds thrown in the mix.

Bless this house indeed!

Get on it!

Louie Gaston - Bless This House

(12'' Version)

Come on, follow me!

Another fabulous track this one from 2012.

I've eulogised about the TE's many times on this blog, but they were truly amzing remixers and everything they touched/created was pure gold.

This is no exception some superb piano chords mixed with some sharp synth stabs and some great acid squelch.

They take you on a true journey.

Just a great track.

Love Club - The Journey

(Trouser Enthusiasts Remix)

Catch the Coyote!

Cracking piece of progressive house from Zammo who was also a cracking DJ North of the border in Scotland. An equally cracking remix by The Digital Blonde who also did some great remixes/productions.

It drives and flows with some lovely ethereal vocals and then bubbles in some great TB 303 acid squelch.

A cracking track which came out on Stress in 1996, a label that allows put out quality.

Enjoy!

Coyote - Spirits Dancing

(Digital Blondes Ghost Mix)

It's a beautiful dream!

As much as a like Noel as a rock star I never thought I'd be putting him on the PCC blog, but throw a couple of Hacienda legends on the remix duties and you have a corking dance track.

Noel's vocals are good and there is some great piano that really lifts the track.

This came out in 2018 although not sure of it's impact on the nations dancefloors.

There is also an Andy Weatherall remix, but that is pretty non-descript and nowhere as near as good as this.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds - It's A Beautiful World

(Mike Pickering Graeme Park Hacienda Mix)

Coming back for more!

Love this from 2016, Purple Disco Machine very rarely put a foot wrong and are undoubtedly one of the best remixers/producers on the current scene.

This is pure class, great vocals, some nice disco rhythms and some great subtle piano.

A really great track.

Coming back for more!  Oh yes!

Enjoy!

Anabel Englund - London Headache

(Purple Disco Machine Remix)
