Respect to two legends - R.I.P.

Thinking of all the great songs which could be dropped at midnight tonight on NYE to bring in the New Year and there are few which could be as dramatic and effective as this.

Yes, I've posted it on the PCC blog before and it is undoubtedly one of the greatest house tracks of all time.

Everything about it is sheer perfection and Jamie's vocals are just heavenly as are the delightful female background vocals.

I can't let go!

It was also a huge Alfredo track, so here is another tribute to the legend who passed away recently.

R.I.P. to both Frankie and Alfredo - quite possibly the two most influential dance music pioneers to have ever touched our worlds and now re-united in heaven.

Respect and gratitude to you both and Happy New Year to one and all.

Frankie Knuckles featuring Jamie Principle - Your Love

(US 12”)

A masterpiece from the master!

A complete and utter masterpiece from the legend that was Frankie and one that he regularly played in his sets.

The Directors Cut combo of Frankie and Eric Kupper produced some amazing tracks and remixes.

They were truly absolute masters of their craft.

This tracks takes a simple hook from an 80's disco track and loops it, combined with some great percussion and of course that wonderful signature Frankie piano.

Just sublime!

Spencer Parker feat. Dan Beaumont - The Look

(Director's Cut Signature Mix)

Reach out and touch!

Fantastic piece for classic house music from 1990.

This is such a great track and it still feels very current despite being 34 years old.

It has great production, great vocals, with a superb mix of male and female vocals, a bit of rap and some glorious piano.

The compilation of artists on this track is incredible and although titled as Quincy Jones, it was more of a tribute to him as he was not directly involved.

Completely timeless.

Reach out and touch don't be afraid!

Quincy Jones - Listen Up

(Full House Mix)

Listen up!

Much respect for Mark Moore who was there at the very beginning of the scene and was always a great DJ with great eclectic taste.

His S'Express outings were always pretty good and although quite commercial they always had appeal.

This is a great remix by Lord Sabre (aka Andy Weatherall), with not much of the original, but a fine piece of work with some delightful piano.

Listen up!

S'Express - Find 'Em, Fool 'Em, Forget 'Em

(The Eighth Hour Mix)

All for you!

PDM does it again.

The Rolling Stones are so iconic and their tracks are not easy to remix in a dancefloor friendly manner, but that man we know as The PDM produces an absolute gem.

This is a truly sensational remix which retains the great Stones vibe, but creates a brilliant piece of club music.

The piano in this is immense and it is a quite superb remix.

The Rolling Stones - Mess It Up

(Purple Disco Machine Extended Remix)

Nobody knows what's going on in my mind...but me!

Love Saint Etienne and love Way Out West so logic says I should love this and glad to report I do.

In all honesty, it's probably not their best work for either of them, but it's still a pretty epic track and certainly hits the spot.

Very much in the WOW remix style which we know and love, with a little bit of Sarah's glorious vocal adding that extra je ne sais quoi!

Nobody knows what's going on in my mind...but me!

Saint Etienne - Angel

(Way Out West Remix)

We blew your mind!

I always loved the Primals and have seen them live many times.

They are always chaotic, yet superb and Bobby G is a great front man.
Screamadelica was one of the great albums of our generation and one I played to death.
Whilst their tracks were more indie-dance than pure club, dropped at the right time in a set they could still be devastating.
This was one of my faves from Screamadelica.
I just love everything about it, the guitars, the piano, the sitar, the oriental feel, the sleazy Bobby G vocals and of course Mr Weatherall's fantastic remix/production.

Does anyone else thing Bobby sings, "Trip, Trip, Trip inside?"

Primal Scream - Slip Inside This House

Progressive masterpiece!

A true progressive house classic from 1992.

React 2 Rhythm made some great tracks and coupled with Fabi Paras and you had progressive heaven.

Fabi was at the very forefront of the progressive house scene background and produced and remixed many fantastic tracks.

He was also a great DJ in addition to playing the bongo's.

This track is just pure progressive power from start to finish, building, layering, changing pace but always fierce and exciting.

It also has the longest remix title in history (probably?)

React 2 Rhythm - I Know You Like It

(The Not For Love Nor Money Do I Remember Saying "I See Myself As Being Round For Quite Some Time" Remix)

Burning with ecstasy!

This was a big tune back in 1990 and widely played by the likes of Sasah.

It's an incredible bassline and boy did this shake the dancefloor and blow the speakers.

It was probably one of the first breakbeat tracks which created a mini-scene in itself.

Certainly more powerful in a club environment than hearing elsewhere, but a really credible track, which was very different at the time.

Burning with ecstasy!

Ooh alright!

Meat Beat Manifesto - Radio Babylon

Definitely one to Remember!

A bit of a hidden gem from 1990.

Cracking old skool track which went a little under the radar.

Full of different samples and laced with some great old skool Italian house piano.

Definitely one to Remember!

There was a remix done a few years later which is also very good and very piano-tastic, which was also well worthy of an up!

Enjoy!

Hipsters - Remember

(Vocal Mix)

Hipsters - Remember

(Runaway Remix)

It's the feeling that I love!

There was a period in the mid-2000s when the Freemasons totally ruled the roost for converting not so great commercial tracks into dancefloor delights.

Anyone who knows the PCC blog will be well aware of my huge admiration for James Wiltshire's aka Jimmy Gomez remix work.

This is a corking track with clever use of the Kariya sample, a catchy vocal hook and a spanking bit of piano.

Intoxicated, accelerated!

Right on!

Herd & Fitz featuring Abigail Bailey - I Just Can't Get Enough

(Freemasons Remix)

Saturday, 28 December 2024

It's like I've known you all my life!

7th Heaven were the absolute masters at remixing tracks which were very commercial but just giving them that necessary quality to turn them into bonafide PCC's.

Yes, they are still borderline overground, but credible enough (just).

This one is a touch Eurovision, but I can't help like it and hence consider it worthy of a post.

I know you have a special something!

Hera Björk - Je Ne Sais Quoi

(7th Heaven Club Mix)

I'll take you to my paradise!

Thought I'd already posted this one.

Another superb track by the Sophie and PDM collab.

Sophie's vocals are exquisite and alongside PDM's superb remix skills you have another corking track.

Sophie and The Giants, Purple Disco Machine - Paradise

(Extended Mix)

Dance while the record spins!

Initially the main focus of the PCC blog back in 2009 when I first started was to hunt out and share all the great tracks which we knew and loved from our clubland experiences.

At that time in 2009 blogs were the "in thing" and youtube was still in it's infancy and hence many tracks were very hard to find and hence we had a great network of dance music blogs ripping vinyl and sharing all our hidden gems.

As time has passed pretty much everything is now on youtube so everything is freely available.

In the early years of the blog I'd purposely avoided posting tracks which were mainstream and easy to find. However, as time has passed to still very relevant to post some of these more overground (but still underground) classics.

Here's one such track from 1991, it'll need no introduction, but it still sounds great and that piano break will always hit the spot.

It was a huge Sasha track back int'day.

Dance while the record spins!

Bizarre Inc - Playing With Knives

(Quadrant Mix)

I feel hypnotised!

As much as I love Depeche, not a lot of their tracks cross over onto the dancefloor of clubland too well.

This one is an exception though, it's deep, moody and totally engrossing.

It feels like little bombs exploding.

One of those tracks that gets better with each listen, it just grows and grows on you.

I feel hypnotised!

Depeche Mode - Only When I Lose Myself

(Lexicon Avenue Remix)

Hold on tight!

Such an amazing track and up there with the all time trance classics.

This track had so much energy, pumping, pounding and building such an atmosphere on the dancefloor.

It feels a touch faster/harder than I remember it, but maybe it was played a touch slower in clubs to mix in with the next track.

A big Oakey track back int'day!

This one literally shook the dancefloor!

I always loved a track which slowed down and then sped up, it just created an awesome atmosphere.

Cygnus X - The Orange Theme

Better believe!

A quality piece of classic house music from 2021.

Superbly produced and as smooth as you like.

Great remix by the legend that is Mr Morales.

Better believe!

Quality all round!

T-Bor & Jessica Rhodes - Rescue Me

(David Morales Classic Extended Mix)

That's alright!

Staying on the 1992 vibe another absolute corker.

Cowboy Records was one of the very best labels of the 90's most notably leading the way on the progressive house scene with the Boys Own crew.

This is a really great track full of energy, vibrancy and some corking piano.

Still sounds great 32 years on.

Enjoy!

Sono Lakota - Ice & Acid

(The Aloof Remix)

Top brass!

Love this corker from 1992.

Groovy as hell and with some great instruments and a fine sprinkling of piano.

Get down!

Oh yes!

Smooch - Disco Heaven

(Women Respond To Brass Mix)

Tribute to the all time legend!

It was with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of the legend that was DJ Alfredo on Christmas eve.

It is not too far to say that Acid House and dance music as we have experienced for over 35 years wouldn't have happened without the inspiration and genius of Alfredo.

It was Alfredo and his legendary sets at Amnesia in 1987 which ignited the passion of Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling, Nicky Holloway (and many others) that lead to the development of the Acid House scene in the UK, which then exploded into the rave scene and the rest is dance music history.

After being entranced by his totally eclectic Balearic sets in Amnesia, they all returned to the UK and tried to recreate the same vibe and scene.

Oakey created the Project club, Spectrum and then Land of Oz, Danny created Shoom and Nicky created, Sin and Trip and Acid House was well and truly born.

All down to the inspiration created by Alfredo.

A huge part of Alfredo's DJing philosophy was playing a massive variety of different types of tracks many of which weren't strictly dance tracks put played at the right time mixed in the right way were just pure gold.

How do I pick a single track to honour the passing of the great legend?

Well having thought about it some what, I thought of a track which was not strictly dance, but just perfect and fully epitomised the tracks which Alfredo dropped at Amnesia.

So here it is a wonderful piece of Balearic artistry frequently dropped by Alfredo at Amnesia.

Rest In Peace legend Alfredo - we will always be indebted for the inspiration you provided which created the scene which we all took so much pleasure from.

Total respect! R.I.P.

Bruce Springsteen - I'm On Fire

(Cousin Cole's Bad Desire Mix)

Happy Christmas to one and all!

Breaking with tradition I'm posting the last pre-Christmas post with something that is brand new (rather than an old classic).

This is hot off the press and was only released on 13th December 2024.

I heard it and just fell in love with it.

It is incredible piece of laid back deep house with a real Keinemusik feel.

The vocals are just gorgeous and oh so soothing.

The only problem is that it is a little too short and could do with at least an extra 2 to 3 mins.

Regardless, here's hoping that this gets played for all those who are clubbing this Christmas.

Imagine this being dropped at midnight on New Years Eve. Heavenly!

Happy Christmas to one and all - have a great time,  live life to the full and stay safe!

Qrion feat. Pinkpirate - Lean Into Light

(Extended Mix)

Hear that funky groove?

Now here's an old fave which I've not heard for years but still sounds amazing.

This is one of the great pleasures of continuing with the PCC blog and why after all these years I continue to post great tracks.

Great remix by 7th Heaven. The piano in this is just superb.

Used to love this back int'day and it really rocked the dancefloor.

It was a huge Tony De Vit track and one he is pretty reknown for playing and also remixing.

I never went to Trade/Turnmills, but by all accounts it was off the scale.

Hear that funky groove!

99th Floor Elevators - Hooked

(7th Heaven's Back To Turnmills Mix)

Sunday, 22 December 2024

Ready for the interceptor!

Big old skool track from 1992.

Always went down a storm this one.

Raw, hard edged but full on hands in the air when that piano dropped.

Oh yeah!

Interceptor 17 - Interceptor 17

(Original)

Ride the wave!

A superb piece of classic trance from 1999.

Full of energy, pounding and pulsing, continuously building then exploding.

Trance just like we love it.

Get on it!

Kamaya Painters - Endless Wave

(Albion Remix)

Wasn't it me who said...

Very surprised that I've only posted 5 Diana tracks on the blog to date. That must change!

She is without doubt one of my all time favourite female vocalists and every track she has ever touched is golden.

Her tracks also remix well because the vocals are so amazing.

Eric Kupper did a series of house based remixes and they are all great.

This is one of them, which keeps all the amazing qualities of the original track, but just gives it that extra dance-ability and house feel.

Simply gorgeous!

Diana Ross - Touch Me In The Morning

(Eric Kupper Remix)

Stand up straight!

A great piece of classic house music from 1994.
Superb powerful vocals, a great lively house rhythm and some great piano.
Quality remix from Serious Rope and you've got a "serious" dance floor banger.
Not one that I heard out in clubs too often, but a corking track.
Something I could well imagine Allister Whitehead playing, very much in his style (which I love).
Enjoy!

Desoto - Pay A 'Lil Attention
(Serious Rope 12'' Mix)

All I want it the bass, yeah!

Superb piece of Hip-House from 1991.

This is the same Raze (aka Vaughan Mason) as "Break For Love" the all time house classic.

Different vocalists this time, including some great rapping from Doug Lazy.

It's a slick piece of hip house with some great piano.

All I want it the bass, yeah!

Raze - Bass Power

(Club)

You can't tell me - what to do!

Now this is an old skool track which I used to love back in the day.

It's from 1991 and it used to be on a mix set tape which I used to play over and over.

It's got great vocals and some great synth riffs, I just love the laid back feel of it.

You can't tell me - what to do!

Regime - What To Do

(Casablanca Mix)

Valley of Tears

Superb track from 1994 which still sounds great.

There are lots of remixes out there of this, but I still think the original is the best.

It's funky, it's vibey, a tad cheesey?, but definitely infectious.

Enjoy!

René Et Gaston - Vallée De Larmes

Monday, 16 December 2024

Oooh-eye, oooh-eye!

Staying on the overground/underground vibe, this was certainly a track which divided opinion.

In my opinion certainly overground, but it was very good and very catchy and although it rarely got played out in the country's most discerning clubs it is still a great track and worthy of PCC status.

Tim and Jez were both great contributors to the dance music scene for many years and both were omnipresent on the scene in Leeds which was playground of many of my clubbing years in the early 90's.

The track uses the amazing Kate Bush vocals to great effect, contains some great piano and is just a great catchy, sing-a-long track.

Like all PCC's is still sounds great today and that is testament to it's quality.

Utah Saints - Something Good

What's she gonna look like with a chimney on her?

A classic track from 1995 which although it went overground, is still very much underground.

Immortalised by the line "what's she gonna look like with a chimney on her".

I remember the first time I heard it was on a Allister Whitehead mix tape, which I played to death as it was also the first time I'd heard the Jimmy Gomez remix of Anthony White - Love Me Tonight, which became one of my all time favourite tracks.

Boy did that mix tape get some stick, I must have rewound the Anthony White track hundreds of times.

Lots of remixes of this, but it was the Junior remix which I first heard and to me is still the best version out there.

Quality house music which has stood the test of time, despite the Chimney reference.

Enjoy!

Urban Discharge featuring She - Drop A House

(Junior Sound Factory Mix)

Still in the house!

Wow, hard to believe that this one dates back to 1987, as it still sounds amazing and also very current.

Me thinks that this is where Morales drew inspiration for his riff on his amazing remix of Mariah Carey's - Dream Lover.

Well this track is just like the remix title suggests a hot piano house mix.

Seriously folks this is a legendary track and that vocal has been sampled many times.

Classic house music!

John Rocca - I Want It To Be Real

(Farley's Hot House Piano Mix)

Afro chants in the house!

Another amazing track brought to my attention by the wonderful Keinemusik set from Burning Warrior.

This has such a great vibe, filled with afro chants and a slow chilled build up, then the bass drops and the pace increases and it just continues to build.

Just lovely.

The Keinemusik vibe has certainly relighted my passion for dance music and restored my faith that there is good new original music being produced of the highest quality.

Enjoy!

Idd Aziz, Djamou Sangare - Lua

(Pippi Ciez Retake)

Sunday, 15 December 2024

If you catch me when I fall!

A superb piece of up-tempo house music from 1998.

Great lyrics, great vocals and some cracking piano.

It's a lively little number, which is guaranteed to get your toe tapping.

Shernette May - Alright With Me

(Mark Picchiotti Sunday Vocal Remix)

Look how far we have come!

Surprised I've not posted this one before now.

It's one of those which is slightly commercial but just underground enough.

I totally loved Maria's vocals, she is right up their with the very best of the trance vocalists.

This is from 1996 and still sounds great and oh, that chorus is to die for.

After all is said and done!

Robert Miles Feat. Maria Nayler ‎– One And One

(Club Version)

Don't go, please stay!

I've already posted the Ferry Corsten remix of this track, but felt it more than worthy to post this sensational remix also.

There's less of George in this one, but the remix is just superb and right up there with one of Lange's best, which is no faint praise as they he always super consistent.

It's a thumping, pumping trance monster, but laden with some beautiful chilled piano chords which just elevates it's appeal.

Don't go, please stay, it always happens, this way.

Faithless feat. Boy George - Why Go?

(Lange Remix)

Set the wheels in motion!

I could pretty much post Blue Amazon's entire back catalogue such was the quality of their remix and production work.

Much like Above & Beyond, Trouser Enthusiasts, Gabriel & Dresden and other they appear on the PCC blog multiple times because they created and recreated some many great tracks.

This one is an epic 15 minute journey with lots of superb build up, lush piano and some delightful vocals from Jayn Hanna.

Set the wheels in motion!

Feel the heat is rising!

Jayn Hanna - Lovelight (Ride On A Love Train)

(Blue Amazon's Innocent Vocal Mix)

You intoxicate my mind!

A fantastic piece of classic house from 2006.

This track has it all a great groove, great vocals, some great piano and a great deep house groove.

Not a day goes by when I don't think of you!

Kerri Chandler- The Promise

(Original Mix)

Don't look behind!

Love Decade were pretty much omnipresent on the club circuit in 1991 and 1992.

They seemed to be on the PA playlist for virtually every club night around that era or certainly that was the case Up North!

While "So Real" was always their stand out track they also had a few other quality tracks, this being one of them.

Filled with lush vocals, great piano, a bit of sax and the sound that was very present in that era, it's another bonafide PCC.

Don't look behind!

Feel it!

Love Decade - I Feel You

(Naked Club Mix)

Trust your feelings of love!

This was always a great track and one which went down superbly in clubs.

I think I first heard this played out in a club in Blackpool called Sequins (anyone remember that?).

It must have been late 1991 or early 1992.

About the track well it's just a great groovy track with some great vocals, some great piano and a real feel-good factor.

Trust your feelings of love!

I feel love so much since I don't know when!

Midi Rain - Always

(Blue Piano Mix Vocal)

My good intentions!

Staying on an similar vibe and another daughter recommendation.

Another really superb new track and one which was a feature of a few Keinemusik sets.

It has a fantastic aura and atmposhere about it with some lovely vocals, great piano and a throbbing bassline.

Not to mention a great drumroll and crescendo.

My good intentions!

Top notch track.

Enjoy!

Mahmut Orhan x Nathan Nicholson - Pangea

(Maxi Meraki Remix)

This one's for the Kidz!

I'm reliably informed that this track went down well in Ibiza this year.

On the subject of Kidz, my own children were only very young when I first started this blog in 2009.

Fast forward 15 years and it was in fact my daughter that alerted me to this track with a "Dad you'll love this, it was brilliant when dropped in Ibiza this year".

A little about the track well it's just awesome very "Keinemusik" in style and I'm very surprised that they haven't any involvement in it. There's lush piano, epic build up, afro chants and just an incredible atmosphere throughout the track.

It's great to know they are still playing top notch, fresh new tracks in clubs.

To all the Kidz out there this one if for you.

Enjoy!

Arodes - Kidz

(Extended Mix)

Pow, passion!

Blondie's tracks when remixed are on another level which is just testament to her amazing talent.

Whilst several have been posted on the PCC blog, this is one which is well worthy of a post.

Not one of Blondie's most popular tracks but still a great track all the same.

Two great remixes here.

I think the Burger Queen remix just pips it for me, as the Diddy remix although very good is pretty similar to their fabulous Atomic remix.

Love the "Pow-passion"

Blondie - Union City Blue

(Burger Queen Peroxide Power Mix)

Blondie - Union City Blue

(Diddy's Power and Passion Mix)

Come on!

One of the finest vocalists of our generation.

BRM and dance music go together like hand and glove.

Her vocals on this are stunning.

I prefer then Dave Aude remix, as I feel it uses Billie's exquisite vocals to a better effect.

Billie Ray Martin - The Glittering Gutter

(Offer Nissim Remix)

Billie Ray Martin - The Glittering Gutter

(Dave Aude' Club Mix)

Very sticky!

While I do think that Bicep have been massively overhyped, I do have to confess that this track is stunning and very powerful.

In our day we were spoilt with the likes of FSOL, Sabre's, Underworld, not to mention A&B, Trouser Enthusiasts and may others who were far better than Bicep.

I think it's more that there is so little good quality original music produced these days and hence Bicep do stand out.

Glue is very well known and highly popular (possibly overplayed), but it is nonetheless a very piece of progressive trance and certainly worthy of PCC status!

Bicep - Glue

(Original Mix)

Eternally beautiful!

A simply stunning piece of art from the legends that were A&B.

They were true masters of their craft.

This encapsulates you from the very first piano chord through to the full 8 mins plus of the track.

Just a stunning piece of atmospheric trance music.

Above & Beyond - Eternal

(Artemil Remix)

Shang, Shang, Shangai!

Let's go back, way back.

Love this track very unusual and combining many different styles, but it somehow works.

A great piece of Italo Disco from 1985 which still sounds great almost 40 years on.

Lee Marrow - Shanghai

I'd love to stay for ever and another day!

This is new and totally fab.

A lot of the new tracks which I post are either featured on Graeme Park's radio show which I listen to every week or via known legends in the field like Luvdup and to be honest any of numerous music sources which I listen to when I have chance.

This one was via Parky's show.

It's a fantastic upbeat piece of bubblegum type pop but with such charm and also dancefloor credibility.

Very 80's and with a real Italian Hi-NRG vibe.

Beautiful lush vocals, some great lyrics and some delightful Spanish guitar.

I'd love to stay for ever and another day!

It's a corker.

Patchouli Brothers - Mista Hasta La Vista

Super? Oh yes!

Love a lot of Yousef's work and this is a real banger.

This is one championed by the legend that is Graeme Park.

Totally piano laden it whips you into a dancefloor frenzy.

I bet this goes down a storm in the clubs.

Quality.

Super? Most certainly!

Yousef - Super

Ride on baby!

A real old fave of mine.

Just love all Dave Lee's work, such a prolific and fantastic remixer/producer.

This is a huge anthem and just never loses it's appeal.

Totally piano-licious!

There was once a time when I thought I'd run out of PCCs to post, but I don't think this will ever happen, especially with posting the odd new track in with the old classics.

Ride on!

Joey Negro - Ride The Rhythm

(Joey Negro Club Mix)

Sunday, 1 December 2024

You make me feel good!

A corking old skool track from 1991which was both very underplayed and underrated.

Why wasn't this track bigger back in '91?

It's a proper old skool banger with some great piano and would have gone down a storm back then.

It's one I never heard played out, which was a shame.

Maybe it was one of those very rare tracks which never got in many of the top  jock's boxes.

I can imagine the likes of Vertigo or even early Sasha hammering this.

Regardless, this is what the PCC blog is all about, uncovering and exposing some of those rare and forgotten gems.

Enjoy!

Zenana - Compulsion

(Vocal Mix)

Yeah, feeling!

Always loved this track and another which I'm surprised I've not posted before now.

More for a warm summers day, rather than a rainy December morning, but hopefully it will brighten the mood as we can't easily change the weather.

It's funky, laid back, chilled and very much Ibizian Balearic in style.

Yeah, feeling!

Enjoy!

YBU - Soul Magic

(Full Length Version)

Hit me in the heart!

I recently posted a fantastic acoustic version of this track which just blows me away everytime I listen to it.

This version creates a more dance friendly vibe.

PDM does what he does best and creates a superb piece of disco dance floor fodder, whilst Yebba's fantastic vocals still shine through.

The only problem is as just over three and a half minutes, it's way too short.

Maybe PDM was in a rush that day and had to get to a gig! Ha ha!

Enjoy, even at 3.5 mins, it's still glorious!

Mark Ronson featuring Yebba - Don't Leave Me Lonely

(Purple Disco Machine Remix)

Intelligent life beyond this planet!

One of those amazing trance tracks which you just have to play over and over it's so addictive.

You play it once and think "did I hear just hear that right", then play it again.

Almost 25 years on, this track still sounds amazing, unique and truly mesmerising.

Be warned it is very addictive.

Intelligent life beyond this planet! Yes indeed!

Yahel - Voyage

(Original)

Oooh yeah!

I have only one thing to say about this track "Oooh yeah!"

Well I better add a few more comments.

Just like the track title suggests it's a corking piece of trance piano from 1997.

Altogether now "Oooh yeah!"

Delicious!

Y Traxx - Trance Piano

Ain't it shocking what love can do?

Staying on the Whitney vibe and why not!

When 2 legends collide you're bound to get something special and this is.

The remix and production genius of Mr Morales and the amazing vocals courtesy of Ms. Houston creates house music heaven and a true masterpiece.

It's long, very long at 11 mins plus, but it's never boring and keeps you encapsulated from start to finish taking you on a real journey.

It's making me all emotional!

Whitney Houston - So Emotional

(David Morales Emotional Club Mix)

This love is strong!

Whitney's legendary status was underpinned by the recognition that she was one of best vocalists of our generation.

Junior's status was sometimes tainted by his desire to chase the money, which resulted in more quantity than quality and many remixes which were a bit bland and same-ish.

This however, is one of his better ones, which combines with Whitney's amazing vocals produces a cracking club track. Just the way we like them.

It's fast paced, energetic and very effective.

Whitney Houston - How Will I Know

(Junior Vasquez Club Mix)

Do you enjoy what you do!

Wham on the PCC blog, who'd of thought it, but the PCC mantra has always been about quality and not musical snobbery.

This is a great remix and Sgt Slick (aka Andrew Ramanauskas) is an absolute master at converting pop tracks into very credible dance floor smashes, this is one such example.

I could well imagine this being dropped by some of the more eclectic DJs, it would also be a great end of night track to finish a set.

Imagine this coming on after a night of intense clubbing and the lights coming on.

Dancefloor delirium would ensue!

Do you enjoy what you do?

If not then stop!

Feeling it? You need to be!

WHAM! - Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do?)

(Sgt Slick ReCut)

My love will teach you right!

I can't quite believe that I haven't posted this before, it must have been a period where I was struggling to find time to post.

Nevertheless, better late than never.

Whilst the Kariya original version is untouchable this is an absolutely bangin' remix.

Nothing will ever quite match the original, but this was undoubtedely the tune of 2019.

It was simply impossible to avoid.

Whilst it borrows heavily from the original it also gives it an ultra modern feel and oh that piano, is to die for.

An absolute scorcher of a track.

Weiss - Let Me Love You

(Extended Mix)

Do you believe in?

Simply magic and exactly what you'd expect when putting the princess of pop (Madonna is the Queen) and one of the very best current remixers together.

Lots of wonderful piano perfectly combine with Kylie's vocals to deliver a ream kick-ass track.

All you have to do is believe in Magic!

Kylie Minogue - Magic

(Purple Disco Machine Extended Mix)

Follow the sun!

Huge fan of quality trance.

This is much later than the halcyon trance days of the late 90's early 00's, but it still has that same energetic pumping feel.

Anything that Oakey was involved in whether remixes, his own production or just the tracks he played were always gold and that is why he right achieved iconic status.

This has it all big build ups, big drops, pumping energy and ehteral vocals.

Top drawer!

Western Disco - The Sun

(Paul Oakenfold Mix)

Ooh la la!

An old skool banger from 1990.

Lots of sample pilfery going on here notably from Gwen Guthrie's - Peanut Butter and also from Siedah Garrett's - K.I.S.S.I.N.G.

However, house music is very much built on sampling so no shame there.

Lots of great piano as all these old Italian piano classics.

Enjoy!

Outphase presents Sophie Jane - I'm In Love

It's all about tonight!

Loved this a quality old classic from 1992.

Pulsing, throbbing and grooving all in one go.

Still sounds great and still pretty unique.

Quality never fades.

Orson Karte - Tonight

You have been told!

Another big and widely played old skool track.

There are vocal versions, but they are pretty cheesy and not a patch on this.

This one used to rock the joint.

Get on it!

Neon - Don't Mess With This Beat

(Instrumental Mix)

Everybody's moving to the beat!

Possibly one of the most widely played club tracks (ever?).

Back in 1991 when this came this track was in the box of every single DJ in clubland.

Caned by the likes of Sasha and all the top house jocks of the time, it was on just about every mix tape of that era.

There were lots of versions and remixes but this C&C one is the best of the bunch,

It captures it all great vocals, great piano, great percussion, great production, just an all time bona fide PCC.

Still sounds bloody amazing all these years on.

Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - Let The Beat Hit 'Em

(LL w/Love RC Mix)

Can I get a hardcore; do you want more?

I really dislike Hip Hop, Hip House love it, Hip Hop hate it.

That said I do like this and have always liked Eminem.

This is a great mash up and clash of all sorts mixed together and still sounding great.

A PCC?

Maybe a track to kick the night off and get the dancefloor moving.

Can I get a hardcore; do you want more?

Jayz ft Linkin Park vs Eminem, Dr Dre - Numb Encore

Aural pleasure

This is very different but equally very very good.

A delightful piece of melodic trance and a fantastically produced track.

It has a real atmosphere and drive right from the get go.

It draws from so many areas like early Kraftwerk, Jean Michel-Jarre and even Daft Punk.

7 minutes of total aural pleasure, from the uber talented Norwegian producer.

Lindstrøm - Fāār-I-Kāāl

(Todd Terje Extended Mix)

The fly!

Another Balearic classic from back in the day 1989.

Just a mad track, with loads going on, but just proper Balearic.

There's no pigeon-holing this type of track it just cuts across everything and is hence true to the essence of Balearic.

Top class!

Les Négresses Vertes - Zobi La Mouche

(William Orbit Remix)

All rise to the legend

Love Fabi Paras' remix work as it always top notch and you always know it's going to contain a banging bit of piano.

This is right on cue and provides a spanking progressive house number from 1992.

Just damn fine club music.

Fabio was definitely a legend!

Enjoy!

Legend - Take Your Body Over Mine

(Fabio Paras Remix)

A flavour of paradise!

Surprised I've not posted this before.

Top notch Balearic track which still sounds great.

This one dates back to 1990 and has some lovely chilled piano alongside lots of familiar samples and snippets.

Sit back, relax and enjoy!

Key Tronics Ensemble - Calypso Of House

(Paradise Version)

Slide away!

Love this a cracking track from 1997,

Big C (aka Andy Cocup) remix and production work was always basolutely top notch and layered with banging piano.

In fact I need to post more Big C tracks on the blog, as he has loads of PCC tracks.

Enjoy!

Junkster - Slide

(Big C's Skinny Malinky Vocal Mix)

Don't be a prisoner!

Steve Anderson is without a shadow of a doubt one of the very best remixers, music producers of all time.

The quality and breadth of his work over several decades is phenonamal.

His work with Dave Seaman will for me always be his true high point, but his work with Kylie and all his solo remix work is always of such fantastic quality.

Love this track and great funky house track made so much better by Mr Anderson's amazing production work.

Awesome!

Millie Scott - Prisoner Of Love

(Steve Anderson DMC Remix)

Don't cancel!

Really on the edge of commercial/credible, however I think it just sneaks in.

Yes, it's sugary pop but it's very enjoyable.

Kylie is just incredible and her longevity is true testament to her legend superstar status.

Moto Blanco are experts at turning pop songs into bona fide club tracks.

Don't cancel!

Kylie Minogue - I Was Gonna Cancel

(Moto Blanco Club Mix)

How low can you go?

Probably less well known and probably not quite as good as the other two Gary Clail tracks posted on the blog, but an excellent piece of Indie Dance from 1990 all the same.

Great remix by Oakey and Osborne, very typical of many of their Indie Dance remixes of that era, laced with just enough piano to give that extra bit of kick.

Definitely a track for the Vegans out there.

Beef; how low can you go, hear the cattle cry; death row!

Gary Clail Featuring Bim Sherman - Beef

(Future Mix)

DJ give me the answer!

Love Sophie, Love Freemasons - put them together, love them even more.

A truly corking club track from 2009.

A tad commercial, yes quite probably, but glorious all the same.

Sophie's vocals are just exquisite (as always).

I need to feel I'm getting stronger!

Freemasons Feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Heartbreak

(Make Me A Dancer Club Mix)

Don't want to see the stars!

I'm on a bit of a trance theme, which isn't a bad thing as I've not posted that much trance recently.

Here's another real stomper.

Amy's vocals are just delightful and Tiësto's remix is a real throbbing piece of classic trance.

Don't want to see the night!

Amy MacDonald - Spark

(Tiësto Remix)

2 for the price of one!

Very much staying on the trance vibe two cracking versions of this awesome track.

The original mix is a superb trance stomper with lots of great build up and peaks.

The Lange remix contains some great vocals and has a pretty different feel.

Both are pure class though, like all the posts on the PCC blog.

Rock on!

Agnelli And Nelson - Every Day, Every Moment, Every Time

(Original Mix)

Agnelli And Nelson - Every Day, Every Moment, Every Time

(Lange Remix)

Always A&B!

A&B were without a shadow of a doubt one of the doyens of trance music.

Their ability to produce tracks which were both so uplifting and pumping, yet ethereal and melodic at the same time was just unreal.

This is another such track, it contains everything a good trance track should and certainly feels "Good For Me".

Get on it!

Above & Beyond - Good For Me

(Above & Beyond Club Mix)

Never...

Enjoying this at the moment, which is pretty splendid.

I heard it on Graeme Park's Radio Show recently - which is quite often the source for many of the new tracks which I post.

It's great to see that the legend that is Parky is still at the forefront of the house scene as he always was in the halcyon days of the Hacienda in the early 80's.

About the track, lush piano, lush vocals and overall a really nice vibe about it.

Enjoy!

Bold Parade feat. Yamife Ajorole

- Never Give Up, Never Give In

When I hear that music!

Surprised I've not posted this one before now.

A real club classic and a superb piece of classic house music from 1993.

Fantastic vocals, great lyrics, superb production and some marvellous piano - house music perfection.

Right up there with some of Mr Morales best remixes, which is extremely high praise.

Enjoy!

Sandy B - Feel Like Singin'

(Def Classic Mix)

A, E; A, E, I, O, U, U!

Great reworking of the Freeez classic from 1982.

Dr Packer (aka Greg Packer) is without doubt one of the best remixer/producers out there at the moment.

This remix contains all the great bits of the original classic but just spruces it up with a nice updated club vibe.

You tell me that you love me everyday!

All quality stuff!

Enjoy!

Freeez - I.O.U.

(Dr Packer Extended Remix)

Welcome to the circus!

An all time progressive house classic from 1996 which used to blow your socks off.

It still sounds fabulous today almost 30 years on.

Hardfloor did some amazing remixes, really deep, hard, progressive acid trance.

Truly bangin'.

Enjoy!

Robert Armani - Circus Bells

(Hardfloor Remix)

Gonna be alright!

This was always a big tune for us and reminds me of great memories of Back To Basics in Leeds back in 1993.

Mukkaa produced some great tracks and that Limbo label out of Scotland was at the very forefront of the progressive house scene in the early 90's.

This is a pulsing throbbing monster of a track which still sounds great.

Don't worry - it's gonna be alright!

Mukkaa - Buruchacca

(Main Mix)

I spill my tea, oh silly me!

Although I never DJ'd I always think about tracks I'd play if I had my own club night and a dedicated audience.

This would have certainly been a last track of the night selection.

After 2 hours of pumping house music, I'd gradually wind the night down - on go the lights and then I'd drop this.

Perfect Balearic bliss.

I first came across this track as a 9 year old and still have the original vinyl 7" single and yes, it still sends the same shivers down my spine every time I hear it.

The vocals, the piano, the saxophone, the guitar, the amazing lyrics, the pause mid-song, the emotions, this will always be an eternal classic.

"You drink your coffee and I sip my tea"

Enjoy! (And maybe be brave enough to play it last track of the night!)

Hazel O'Connor - Will You

I was feeling kind of lonely...

Ok, so it's not quite summer, but hey who cares, this will certainly brighten up your day.

A quite simply piece of music with delightful vocals and superb production, just love lots of Greg Wilson's work.

This is a proper Balearic track with beautiful chilled beats and such a smooth and soothing vibe.

Enjoy!

Greg Wilson feat The Reynolds - Summer Came My Way

(Luxxury Club Mix)

Think about me!

Huge fan of Fahlberg, most of his tracks are absolutely stunning.

This is no exception, just blissed out progressive trance with such an aura and atmosphere.

The whole Keinemusik vibe is just sensational and this is very much part of it.

When you think about love, think about me!

Fahlberg - Wytal

(Original Mix)

Wait for it....

A cracking old skool track from 1991.

It takes a while to get going but when it gets to the piano it explodes.

Similar in style to The Grid's fantastic track "Boom"

Enjoy!

Latitude - Es La Rosa

(Piano Mix)

Balearic Beats in the House!

How very remiss of me not to have posted this one before.

It's an absolute Balearic classic and still sounds amazing 36 years on.

Real Wild House is probably more well known, but this is just as good (if not better!).

The Spanish guitar and the piano are just heavenly.

True Balearic bliss!

Enjoy, this is a very special track!

Raúl Orellana - Guitarra

(High Club Mix)

If you're ever feeling low!

Totally love this, more brilliance from PDM.

I've always been a sucker for a steel drum and used effectively it can add a great vibe to a track a la Dario G - Sunchyme.

This is such a vibey, cheery, sing-along-anthem type track which can help to leave a smile on your face and uplift even the dourest of spirits.

We all just want some.....

Better days than tomorrow's

Purple Disco Machine Feat. Moss Kena & The Knocks – Fireworks

(Original)

If we fall apart, let's do it in the dark!

The original thesis of this blog was to showcase some of the many, many fantastic tracks which have rocked clubland throughout the decades, but with a specific focus around the halcyon days of 1987 to 2000.

However, in recent years I've also incorporated lots of new tracks and the odd track which are probably not quite of a clubland vibe, but with a little imagine could be used to open or close a set.

This is one such example. I'll loosely tag it as Balearic which is a great catch all for all things eclectic and in the true spirit of the original Ibiza, Alfredo - Amnesia vibe.

I've listened to this track hundreds of time and it never fails to touch those raw emotions which only truly fantastic tracks can.

It is a masterpiece of beauty with absolutely stunning piano chords and Yebba's vocals are just on another level and the backing singers are right on point.

A pure Balearic masterpiece, just imagine this being dropped last track at 7am in morning at the end of an amazing rave/clubbing night in the late 80's/early 90's.

Heavenly!

Tell me if this love is a lie?

Mark Ronson featuring Yebba - Don't Leave Me Lonely

(Acoustic session at Glastonbury 2019)

Love me with your kiss!

Another old skool banger which was huge back in 1991.

I'm surprised I haven't posted this before now, as it was a really popular track back int' day.

It just epitomises that Italian piano house "hands in the air" style which we all loved at the time,  now commonly referred to as old skool.

Velvet - Hold Me

(Vocal Version)

How can I love you more?

Another cracker from the Trotters Independent Traders.

Lots of there tracks shamelessly pulled samples and snippets from many different tracks and also created some of the earliest mash-ups.

However, house music is built on the use and sharing of samples, beats, recreating, remixing, restyling, so that should never be derided.

This one is another old skool banger, with some great piano.

How can I love you more?

Rock on!

Trotters Independent Traders - Love So Pure

T.I.T.

One of many great tracks from the infamous Neil Rumney aka Trotters Independent Traders.

The name originated from the fantastic TV programme Only Fools and Horses which was a staple part of everybody's live in the UK in the 80's and 90's.

The humour in it was first class and the acronym of the name T.I.T was also a major factor and part of the script.

A lot of the Trotters Independent Traders tracks are great old skool bangers, a tad on the cheesy side, but very lively and upbeat all the same.

More to come.

"After all that we've been through"

Trotters Independent Traders - The Finest

Bangin' pumpin'

A banging piece of trance from 1997 from Oakey's Perfecto label.

It was a track which epitomises the brilliant trance sound of that era.

Bangin' pumpin' drivin' energetic and euphoric all at the same time,

A cracking track which has stood the test of time.

Get on it!

Transa - Enervate

(Original Mix)

I say love me, hold me!

Staying on The Stones theme, here's one of their lesser known tracks which was given a fantastic reworking by The Soup Dragons.

Despite, my love for The Stones, I'd go as far as saying that this version is actually better.

This brings back fantastic memories of when this was released at the start of the 90's.

The Madchester vibe was in full swing and this was at the centre of it.

The Terry Farley remix gives a little bit of extra kick drum to make it more dancefloor friendly and epitomises the "Indie Dance" sound of that era.

I say love me, hold me!

The Soup Dragons - I'm Free

(Terry Farley Boy's Own Remix)

Let me please introduce myself....

Great couple of remix of a true Stones classic.

IMHO one of the greatest Rock 'N' Roll tracks of all time, by the greatest Rock 'N' Roll band of all time (The Beatles - aside).

My love of The Stones knows no bounds and this is an absolute masterpiece.

Both remixes are great as they fully allow the classic track to play out and shine through, in essence just provide a little bit of dance beat.

However, I'm certain they would raise the roof in any club dropped on cue at the opportune moment.

Show no sympathy!

The Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil

(Fatboy Slim Full Length Remix)

The Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil

(Neptunes Full Length Remix)

Do it now!

Staying on the 1991 vibe, here is a house banger from 1991.

Piano-tastic from start to finish, it is a great piece of raw house music.

Simple, repetitive, but so hypnotic and compelling.

When that second layer of piano kicks in, it really flies.

Terence Parker created some great tracks and this is most definitely a stand out.

Terrence Parker - Now Is The Time

Let your body work!

This is an old favourite from back in 1991.

I used to love this track and it was pretty widely played by most of the top jocks in most of the top clubs back in '91.

A great house groove which still sounds great, 30 odd years on.

TAO - Love Potion

(Lost In Space Mix)

We just need your....compliance!

Another barnstorming track from PDM.

This is absolutely banging.

Superb remix and the build up and then subsequent breakdown is just off the scale.

The piano just takes it to another level.

One of PDM's very best remixes and an absolute corker of a track.

"Feel it controlling you!"

Muse - Compliance

(Purple Disco Machine Remix) (Extended Mix)

Sunday, 27 October 2024

All aboard!

First heard this in a Luvdup mix set.

Don't know too much about it other than it is rockin'.

I've always had a huge affinity to Luvdup and think it is great that Adrian and Mark are still going strong and still playing music which is cutting edge, yet retaining their original hedonistic and eclectic vibe.

They will always be up with in my all time fave DJs and Remixers - Legends of the scene!

About the track, very lively, very bouncy and lots of great piano.

What's not to love?

Get on the train!

SM - Royal Train

(Original Mix)

"Why does it feel so good!"

I really detested Groovejet when it first came out in 2000.

It was played to death and was very commercial.

However, this remix is sensational and gives it a completely different edge.

Sophie's vocals are as always truly glorious, but it is the amazing remix work that just takes it to another level.

PDM is an absolute Disco marvel!

"Why does it feel so good" - simple because it it!

Spiller ft. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Groovejet

[Purple Disco Machine & Lorenz Rhode Extended Remix]

Get on the floor if you've got that booty!

 Another progressive banger from 1995.

The SPS produced some great tracks, very club orientated and very good on the dancefloor.

Ain't nothin' but tutti-frutti. Get on the floor if you've got that booty

The Self-Preservation Society - The Whoop

(Dr Slinky McVelvet's Anadin Prescription)

Anyone like piano?

Another great, yet simplistic house track, from 1993.

As you can imagine from it's title, it's piano-laden.

Tracks like this always went down superbly well on the dancefloor at anytime of the night.

Enjoy!

Mind Abuse - The Piano

"Everybody reach"

A quality and very much underplayed progressive house classic from 1993.

Using the same - hoo-hoo chants as Brothers Love Dubs - The Mighty Ming, it also contains some lush piano and is a great track, which even thirty odd years on still sounds great.

"Everybody reach"

Medicine Man - Reach

Hey-ah-eh-hey-ah!

Quite surprised that I've not posted this track before, this was huge in pretty much all clubs back in 1995.

Beautiful gospel vocals, it was one of those tracks which always went down whatever time of night it was played.

Great production and lots of remixes to choose from, I think the Greed remix just edged it for me.

Hey-ah-eh-hey-ah!

Joe T. Vannelli Project - Sweetest Day Of May

(Greed's Euphorik Vocal Mix)

Make room for me!

There was a period in the early 90's when everything Leftfield touched was pure gold.

They were right at the forefront of the progressive house movement and their tracks from that time were awesome.

However, it was a bit of an eyeopener when they teamed up with John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten former lead singer and front man of the notorious punk rockers The Sex Pistols.

Fear not the collaboration was just amazing and created a real top notch club track.

This one went down a treat on the dancefloor and brings back great memories of Back To Basics in Leeds in 1993.

Burn, Hollywood, Burn!

Leftfield & Lydon - Open Up

(Full Vocal Mix)

Keep that growth mindset!

Not quite on the same level as their eponymously titled first track.

However, that was an almost impossible act to follow as "Last Rhythm" was and still is one of the all time great club tracks.

This is from 1992 and is good with a similar vibe and is still a cracking club track worthy of PCC status.

Enjoy!

Last Rhythm - Open Your Mind

(Original Extended Mix)
