Another quality old skool track.
I love the intro on this, which has been sampled several times since.
Clever use of Moby's "I Feel It" sample.
Top notch track anyway.
Enjoy!!!

Just a perfect love!!
This is what we'd class as a real "piano tune" back int' day.
This was always a biggie and a real hands in the air track.
I always used to sing "We are so alone", when in fact it is "We are so in love"
No matter what you sing, it still sounds great today!!

However, here we are back with a bang.
Anyone who follows this blog, knows of my huge admiration for the vocal talents of Ms Carey.

New Dawn rising!!
I can't believe that I've not posted it already, so apologies for that.
This is a musical journey.
I always remember it as the lead track on a pretty renowned Dave Seaman mix set on Stress which we absolutely played to death in Ayia Napa in 1996.
Happy days indeed!!

The Shoppies are back!!
Love 'em or hate them they produced soem top notch tracks.
This is very futuristic sounding and very progressive.
A bit like a combination of Giorgio Moroder meets Fluke.

This puts me in (7th) Heaven!!!
I'm a big fan of 7th Heaven remixes, many more from them to come in future posts.
This track is immense.
Superb vocals - as I'm mentioned many times before on the blog, I'm not usually a male vocal fan, but these are sublime.
Just a cracking, cracking tune with lovely production.
It almost has mainstream crossover appeal but is still very club orientated.
It's comforting to see that some great club music is still being produced amongst the large majority of the dirge nowadays.
Enjoy!!!
Darren Hayes - Black Out The Sun

Reasons to be cheerful - Summer's here!!!
My reasons to be cheerful part is partly related to the beautiful weather we are having, but also related to posting a great track which again restores my faith that good quality house music is still be produced today. It's just very hard to come by and takes a lot of searching to unearth it.
I've mentioned this one before on the blog, as it was the opening track in DJ Matt Gall's superb summer mix which I posted a few weeks back (check that out also as it's quality).
This is the perfect summer track.

Heather Small was tops and an amazing vocalist.
4 fantastic versions all of which provide something different.
I love them all.
The Master is probably the best known and probably my fave.
The Classic Mix is Morales at his finest sounding very Frankie Knuckles-esque - a la as the title suggests Classic House.
The Morales Club Mix is just one rocking piano vibe - huge!!
The Morales Tradegy Dub is similar to the Club Mix although as the title suggests dubbier with less vocals.

The greatest love of all - Great dance music aka PCCs!!
This has taken in house, balearic, trance, progressive, handbag house, disco and many other forms.
Always coupled in this has been an element of the cheesier side of dance music, which I've always unashamedly posted. Most notably those tracks which although slightly overground and cheesy for the purist amongst you, but are none the less bonafide PCCs, that truly rocked clubland.
Here's just one such track.
A big thanks to Simon for sharing this. It is a huge sing-along-anthem and I'm informed went down a storm in Manchester's finest clubs.
The remix is by Peter Rauhofer (aka Club 69) who remixed many great tracks and sadly passed away this week. R.I.P.
Whitney's vocals sound amazing on this - she's also sadly missed.
Let's celebrate their respective talents!
Enjoy!!
Whitney Houston - Greatest Love Of All

Not ne, ne no, but Yes, Yes, Yes!!!
A huge fave of mine, which dates back to 1988.
Absolutely massive track with a piano riff, I'm sure you'll all be familiar with (I believe that this came before Kraze - The Party and that Kraze ripped from this track, but I may be wrong, can anyone confirm??).
I can never decide which version I like best, the vocal or non-vocal as both are immense.
Hence, I've posted both, great vocals by Valentino. Love it.
This is what I'd call - top notch house music!!
I love the way it stops, starts, breaks and pauses, quality!!!
P.S. The track has nothing to do with Ben E King!! Lol.

Manchester, Manchester England!!
I'm actually from over the border in "God's County" - Yorkshire.
However, I had some of my best clubbing experiences and nights in Manchester.
This track is pure Balearic bliss.
The lyrics totally epitomise the scene back in 1990 and 1991.
With the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and of course the Hacienda.
Those times will never be repeated, but the memories will never be forgotten.
"Manchester I'll always love you!!"
Here's the lyrics in full
Buildings of grey on a liquid sky turns the day into night
The bars are filling with fighting Irish - smug young married couples dressing down for the weekend,
Pert shop-girls and typists tip-tapping into blaring dancehalls
Hard-faced villains dressing up for the drinking clubs,
While Suburbia sits watching television.
Bouncers in tuxedos with butterflies round their necks
"Love" tattooed on the right hand and "hate" on the left
Stone Roses just like angels - heaven is this noise,
Fancied by the shop-girls - admired by the sweatshop boys.
So we're sitting in the snug bar - waiting for Jase the Ace
Hooky's by the Juke Box doing his splendid to entertain
Look at Tony Wilson Live on Channel 4
Vote for Rodney Marsh cos Best's on sale again.
I hear a song by Stephen Patrick a crocodile tear paints the dead
Everybody starts shouting "HANG THE DJ" so he puts on STATE 808 instead
I see a face at the Hacienda I see a heart that's torn in two
I see a head that flies the Happy Mondays
And a lonely girl called you, a lonely girl called you,
Manchester, England...
Manchester I'll always love you...
The Times - Manchester
I believe in you!!
This used to absolutely blow the roof off.
Another great piece of work from Rollo.
Our Tribe - I Believe In You (Euphorically)

Less is more!!
When I originally set up this blog over 4 years ago, the intention was to a create an interactive forum, where music was exchanged and clubbing experiences were relayed very much in a 2 way communication.
This was very much the case in the first two to three years, but of recent comments and interaction have become so few and scarce, that there doesn't seem a great deal of point in me putting in lots of effort to create posts with huge long commentaries and explanations of the historical origins etc.
Going forward I will still post great PCCs, but I will limit the amount of time I spend into putting the commentary text together and hence posts will be more about the tracks as opposed to an explanation of the standing and why they are PCCs.
As I've always stated the PCC blog was set up as "your blog" where we would post tracks to your liking and take in suggestions to post (as long as they were worthy of PCC status). This is still the case, so if you have any suggestions or feedback to any of the above, then let me know, either direct by email to pureclubclassics@live.co.uk or by leaving comments direct on the blog.
Right back to the music.
Here's a corking tune, I loved some of the stuff Tin Tin Out did.

Hardcore - in the house!!! Aaagh!!!
Hardcore - on the PCC blog, well I never imagined it either.
As you are probably aware when the original rave scene split right down the middle, this happened in about 1991 and 1992 "Up North", but a lot earlier "down Sarf".
That being the original rave scene split and went down two very different paths, that being the following;
1) The dressed up house clubs, epitomised by the likes of Back to Basics, Hacienda, Hard Times, Renaissance, later Cream and Love To Be etc etc
2) The hardcore rave scene which was about 140bpm plus and was typified by places like Doncaster Warehouse and the more overground legal outdoor raves.
I very firmly chose the dressed up house clubs although I had friends who chose the other scene and they'd often try to invite me along, which I'd frequently turn down.
However, I did try Doncaster Warehouse with them once and had a great night although I can firmly say it wasn't my scene and there were certainly some strange individuals in there.
Each to their own however.
One track which was frequently played at those sort of clubs was this one.
Hardcore in every essence, but it was a track which I always loved.
It is just so instant and so energetic.
When that riff kicks in, it's just a huge "rushing" moment.
I never thought I'd see the day when Hardcore was posted on the PCC blog, but as always only the very best tracks get posted and this one is certainly top notch.
Enjoy!!!
P.S. Compnded (is not spelling mistake, the track of the title is spelt the "E" missing. How ironic!!)

Need to feel loved???
This will help make you feel a little loved.
It's one of those fabulous tracks which makes you feel cocooned with warm and emotion.
Not a little unlike those feelings we used to get at post club after parties when we were just chilling, but still feeling all blissed out. Lol.
It's just a fabulously soothing beautiful piece of trance music, not banging trance, but trance with feeling, emotion, warmth, beauty and feeling.
Yeah, you're right the type that they dont produce nowadays.
It has some really lovely vocals by Delline Bass (pictured) and Adam K and Soha are just masters at producing this type of beautiful soothing trance.
Delicious!!
Seb Fontaine is behind the Reflekt tracks and is a DJ I've heard many times in clubs back int'day.
"Need to feel loved???" this will certainly do the trick.
Get on it, you know you want to.
It'd be good to get some feedback as well people, as it's gone awfully quiet on the PCC blog of late.

Oh the joy of dance music, sampling and sharing!!

Many, many PCC tracks (I won't say all, but it's not far off) are culminations of samples and snippets from earlier classics, whether it's using vocals, riffs or catchy melodies.
The number of tracks that contain vocals sampled from classic diva vocalists like Loleatta Holloway, Aretha Franklin, Rochelle Fleming, Martha Wash etc. etc is astounding, there are literally thousands.
Here's a great example of several club classics which have all pulled and pinched from two classic tracks and created some great tracks in the process.
This will be a long post, so stay with me.
To start it off here is an acapella of "Aretha Franklin - Rock-A-Lott".
This was produced in 1986 and it is simply amazing.
Just listen to the power of her voice, her vocals are absolutely sensational.
Right can you hear where the key bit of "DJ H featuring Stefi - Think About" came from?
The "rock" and "oh yeah" bits.
It also draws inspiration from another Aretha Franklin track called "Think", which is where the "Think About" title comes from.
The "DJ H featuring Stefi - I Think About" track was absolutely massive in clubs and was hammered by every DJ going at the time. It was a biggie hammered by Sasha and I remember great nights in Leeds Warehouse in 1991 when it just used to absolutely lift the roof off. It was one of those tracks that everyone just used to go totally radio rental to. Looking back I bet we all looked crackers, but it was just one of those tracks which caused dancefloor mayhem. Happy Days!!
Moving on....
Ok next up, listen to the "Aretha Franklin - Rock-A-Lott" acapella again and you'll hear another few tracks which used those vocals.
First up, is the "49er's - Touch Me" which was a big track back in 1989. It sounds a little cheesy now, but it was a great track at the time.
That track took not only samples from the Aretha track, but also took lyrics from the Alisha Warren house classic "Touch Me" which came out in 1989. Which is a great house track.
I particularly love the vocals and lyrics in this track and of course, it also then produced the foundations for one of my favorite PCCs.
Do the lyrics
"Cold chill down my spine"
"Don't walk away show me you're mine"
mean anything too you?
Well to anyone who was clubbing in the heady days of 1991 they certainly will.
The "Joy and Joyce - Babe Babe" track was absolutely huge and one those tracks which had everyone in a total state of ecstatic delirium with the impromptu "hands in the air".
Everywhere was full of smiley faces and and head nodding as we sang along to the lyrics and then launched into the chorus.
"Baby, baby, why can't we just stay together".
This bonafide PCC was then copied by Corona in 1995 and although it was very cheesy and very commercial, there were a couple of good mixes and hence I've included the Dancing Divaz mix and also the "Robyx Piano remix". Both mixes have some cracking piano.
Right I think that now concludes the connections, but there are probably some others which I'm unaware of, (if so give me a shout).
However, within this little lot there are 4 bonafide PCCs in the 49er's, Alisha Warren, Joy and Joyce and DJ H featuring Stefy tracks.
Enjoy!!!

You like Piano Tunes??
Massive respect to Davos.
This really did bring a tear to my eye when I first heard/saw it and I just had to share it with you.
If you've ever wondered what it is like to play all those great piano riffs that we all know and love from all the great classic tracks, well here it is.
Here's 20 great classic piano tunes mashed up in 8 minutes of fun.
It just makes you wish that you could play the piano like that doesn't it?
I bet he'd be great to hire for a party, you wouldn't need any music, just get him to play all the piano riffs.
Top class - much respect fella!!
Enjoy people, I know I certainly did.
Full track listing below (or even better ignore the track listing and see how many of the tracks you can name/remember).

However, they've never been particularly club friendly.
This though is a great remix which not only keeps all the power and quality of the original track, but gives it a lovely atmospheric dance feel.
It's one of those tracks which I just play over and over again and it always feels great.
Totally love the guitar that comes in near the end as well. Superb!!
A killer track indeed!!

Can you feel it.... oooh yeah!!!
There are some tracks which are so obvious that I've often overlooked posting and this is one of them.
It is widely recognised as one of the most famous house records and I bet that there isnt anyone who was around in the late 80's who hasn't heard this.
It is of course the work of the genius that is Todd Terry.
I know I've mentioned it before on the blog, that the music he produced always has really crisp crunchy beats that are so infectious.
The whole track is just immense from the sirens at beginning to the jammin groove and all the vocal snippets
"Check this out"
"Too blind"
"Oh shucks"
Anybody used to sing along "f**k off, f**k off" on another of the vocal bits or was that just me?Lol.
All in all - one of the great house tracks of all time.
It still sounds amazing even though it's 25 years old.
Party on!!

Could this be.....Love???
Here's two superb but very different remixes of this track.
The Chameleon mix (aka D.O.P.) is a brilliant atmospheric old skool trancer which just oozes class.
It's a very addictive track and is one I just love playing over and over again.
It seems to get better every time you play it.
The Night Fever Mix version is very energetic, much more vocal and also more overground, but still very good.
I haven't got the D.O.P. Spookie Billie Ray Mix, if someone would be as kind to send me a link to that, it'd be very much appreciated.
In the mean time sit back and enjoy these two terrific tracks.
Let there be love!!!

Too outrageous!!!

Here's a top track from 1996 which I used to love.
It came out on the Positiva label which put out many, many top tracks.
It's an energetic funky house builder.
It' was massive on dancefloors in that it started slowly then built up really fast with drum rolls kicking in, then slows again and speeds up again.
Totally "outrageous".
Top track, which every time I play it, it always brings back some great memories.
Get on it!!

Get on your dancing trousers!!!
I'm a huge fan of the Trouser Enthusiasts, who have done some amazing remixes.
This has to be one of their best.
There is only one way to describe this track - Epic!!
It's just one monstrous tune from start to finish.
It's such a pounding, driving energetic track.
It's one I've never had the pleasure of hearing in a club, but I can imagine it absolutely lifting the roof off on the dancefloor.
Massive.
There's not much PSBs in it, but that's doesn't detract from it.
The piano riffs are simply lush and just further enhance it's epic feel and greatness.
A top, top track.
Respect to the boys who like Trousers!!
(Love the name for the remix by the way - Congo Dongo indeed!!)

An absolutely stomping MJ track courtesy of a fantastic remix by Mr Morales.
This used to be a big Ally Whitehead track and its one that explodes instantly.
As soon as you hear that piano riff from the first second of the track it smashes away and provides a storming 3 and a half minutes.
The remainder of the track never quite lives up to the incredible first part (I guess you'd start to mix the next track it at that stage).
However, it is sill a brilliant track.
Two genii together MJ and David Morales = top, top track.
This time around indeed!!
Rock on!!

So confused??

This one dates back to 1991 and is an example of top notch house music.
Powerful vocals, a smooth house rhythm and those oh so important piano riffs.
Confused?
No need to be this is first rate house music.
Enjoy!!

Drive my body, like a Maserati!!
Keep it clean mind!! Lol!
Here's a cracking piano laden track from 1992.
Very pleasant hushed vocals whispered in a very seductive manner.
The track bubbles along nicely and includes some lovely piano breakdowns.
I remember this track being a big fave of DJ Vertigo who was one of the top DJs of the era.
He was one of the few DJs who kept that piano tunes spirit alive, well past 1992 when all the other DJs had gone, housey, trancey or worst of all hardcore. Vertigo kept it right there delivering quality piano tunes like this. You could also include Paul Taylor in that bracket as well.
Muchos Respect fellas!!
Drive my body like a Maserati indeed.

Come on - Follow Me!!
Nah, it's not a plea to get more PCC followers just using the title of a great track.
This is a truly stunning piece of melodic trance.
Here are two excellent but very different mixes.
I think I prefer the "Lange Club Mix" version, although as with many of their remixes the Agnelli & Nelson version is also pretty epic.
The vocals in the Lange Club Mix version by Cecily Fay are just stunning, she has a truly beautiful voice and the track is worth listening just for her ethereal vocals.
The lyrics are great too and perfect to sing along too.
"Follow me to the edge
And follow me into the dream
And dance with me into the star fire
Like tonight is all there is
And make a leap of faith
And don't look down
Follow me to the edge
Passion for our wings
Follow me to the edge
And follow me into the dream
And dance with me into the star fire
Like tonight is all there is
And make a leap of faith
And don't look down
Follow me to the edge
Passion for our wings
Take my hand
The moment sings
We could fly
If our passion for all this
Follow me to the edge"
Another thing about this track is that you may recognise it from the Kevin & Perry film which was a classic and nearly all of the music that they used in the film were bonafide club classics (most of which are posted on the PCC blog) which made it even better.
"Havin' it large"!! indeed.

Heaven, heaven, wo-oh heaven!!
The title say's it all. A little bit of musical heaven here.
A really nice soothing house track.Nice vocals, some good lyrics, some excellent piano and a nice sing-along-chorus.
What more can you ask for??
This one used to get hammered by Alistair Whitehead who was one of my fave DJs back int' day.
He always had a fantastic knack of playing exactly the tracks that you wanted to hear, that being those which were housey, piano-y, but never cheesy.
We had many fantastic nights at places like Love To Be and Golden grooving along to Mr Whitehead's fantastic track selection.
Enjoy this piece of heaven!!
