Talking 'bout creation!

I always though Stereo MC's were a bit overhyped at the time.

However, this is a quality remix by JR which creates a top notch house track.

Always been a big fan of JR and he has produced some fantastic tracks and remixes over the years.

A DJ that was there from the start and deserves legend status.

This remix takes all the good bits from the track and houses them up big style.

Just how we like 'em!

The spirit is strong!

Back in 1992 everything JR remixed was pure gold, with his famed trumpets.

This was another banger and just so trade mark his style.

Another great track which has retained it vibe and spirit despite being 30 years old.

His DJ sets from around that era were also pretty epic and I remember hearing him a good few times at Back To Basics in Leeds rockin' the gaff!

Enjoy!

(Packets of) Peace to everyone!!

I can't believe that it's taken me 3 years of running this blog and posting tracks before I've got round to posting this one.
This was always a huge favourite of mine and was massive in Clubland in 1993 and rocked all the nations dancefloors for months on end.
It was always a massive track at Back To Basics in Leeds.
Lionrock is of course the guise of Justin Robertson - one of the great DJs from the early days of clubbing and still going strong today I believe. His remixes around that time in 92'/93' were the real sound of that era when he seemed to be churning out "Prankster remixes" at a phenomenal rate. All were exciting and had that unique and distinctive style.
This track is a true PCC with some great vocals from MC Buzz B and a really great underlying piano riff that accompanies that great Roland 303 acid squelch and then topped off with the big horns.
All in all a top, top track, that still sounds amazing today.
Respect to the Prankster!!
(Packets of) Peace to all on Earth!!
Enjoy!!

Things will always be Forever Green....

It's been ages since I played this one and I'd forgotten what a fantastic track it is.
Justin Robertson was probably one of the hottest remixers of that period circa 1992.
His style of music at that time was bang on the money and he produced some great stuff.
This brings back some great memories of Back To Basics in Leeds at the Music Factory.
The track is a true progressive house classic - enough said.
"People used to dream of the future"
"They dreamed of a clean bright future"

Are we "getting out" this weekend???

Alright folks, Welcome to the weekend. (I feel a bit like Pete Tong saying that!!).
I've got some more corking tunes lined up for you tonight, so stay tuned and give me your feedback - good or bad!!
Now if anyone was to ask me to give an example of a Old Skool "piano tune" then this alongside Asha - JJ Tribute and probably 2 Funky 2 - Brothers and Sisters, this would be one of the first tracks which would spring to my mind as representing a true piano tune.
Also often classified as Italian House, they were the type of tracks which were very prominent on the UK club scene circa 1990 to 1991. That was probably at a time when the scene was at it's most exciting and DJ's like Sasha were at their absolute best.
These types of tracks typified the "hands in the air" atmosphere. Awesome times.
"We're getting out, getting ready for the best time in the night"
Funny isn't it how we mis-read lyrics - I always used to sing along to this one with
"We're getting hot, getting ready for the best time in our lives" - which to me makes ultimately better lyrics. Lol.
Out of the two versions I think the Juston Robertson remix shades it.
Enjoy people!!
