Keep your ego in check!

Great track and of course sublime remix from Steve Silk.

Just classic house music.

Love Chantay's vocals and the pulsing house groove of this.

I miss ya

Lovely!

I wanna be free!

Staying on the quality house music vibe, here's another.

Superb Steve Silk remix as per usual.

He always uses piano so well in all his remixes.

I wanna be free!

Fancy a bit of Debbie Gibson?

Totally love this track.
Not much Debbie Gibson singing in it, but maybe that's not a bad thing.
Just love the piano in this and the funky stop start vibe.
Top track and great remix by the legend that is Steve "Silk" Hurley.
Debbie's aged pretty well also.

It's a cold world!!

Now, as followers of the blog will know I'm not a big fan of male vocalists, however Jamie Principle is a big exception, he has a stunningly haunting vocal talent, that just gets you right there!
Some of the tracks and music he put out in the early days of house were outstanding and so good they have totally stood the test of time and still sound great today.
This one is now 25 years old and it still sounds brilliant.
Big respect to Steve "Silk" also for a cracking track, but it's Jamie's vocals that make it.

What would we do??

What we do without great dance music??
The world would certainly be a duller place.
This is an old classic from 1991.
It was absolutely huge at the time and it was banged by every club DJ across the UK week in week out for what seemed like months.
It was one of those tracks which never seemed to go away.
In fact I can distinctly remember getting fed up of hearing it.
However, it's been a while since I last played it and it still sounds pretty fierce.
A great remix from Steve "Silk" very much in his traditional vibe, skippy, funky and touched with some great piano. Boy, that man produced some great remixes around that time!!
What would we do - indeed!!
Enjoy!!

Got a love, got a love for you!!!

Here's another huge, huge fave of mine.
Jomanda (pictured) made some amazing tracks, particularly with the help of remixers like Steve "Silk" Hurley twiddling the knobs.
This is a true PCC and was an absolutely massive track back in 1991.
It was the sort of track that was in every self respecting DJ's box and a track that was played everywhere you went.
As soon those as those first few chords kicked in the dancefloor used to erupt and then when the horn kicks in - ooh heaven.
The vocals are absolutely first class (like all Jomanda tracks) and the Steve "Silk" remix is as you'd expect pretty near perfection.
The fact that it still sounds so amazing even today 20 years since it was released is testament to it's quality.
I'd go as far as to say that this is one of true great house tracks of our time.
Fantastic!!

Sacrifice your heart, for a moment....

Always a big fave of mine this one.
Very nice and easy classy house, with some very nice girly vocals.
A great remix from Steve "Silk", par for the course.
A big sing along track this one.
"Sacrifice  your heart, for a moment, for a moment of love"
Big shout out to Rob for tracking this one down for me.  Nice one fella.
Also check his blog http://historicalbeats.blogspot.com/ for some cracking mixes and a really nice touch with the historical facts bit. Perfect for you trainspotters out there!!
Enjoy!!!
P.S. Always a great excuse to post a picture of the beautiful Yasmin LB (although she had nothing to do with the track)!!

A classic remake of an all time classic!!!

Well there are some songs which are all time classics - a la Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive.
Then along comes a fantastic remix and it creates another classic.
A brilliant remix courtesy of the "Silky" one.
When that piano kicks on at 2 mins 20 secs - ooh heaven.
A truly great remix of an all time great.
What more could you ask for?
Enjoy!!!

Fresh From My Shed

I mentioned last week that I had a few more Hurley gems tucked away in my shed. This is another one of them. I am no big fan of Mick Hucknall - mostly because I remember him wandering round the Hac dressed like a ponce. Anyhow this tune has been given a touch of Hurley magic.

A Little Bit More

A fantastic tune by a great artist. Kym Sims collaborated with Steve "Silk" Hurley on this banging tune. They are also responsible for Kim's better known "Too Blind To See". In my opinion - this is a better track.

Here it Comes

I had to check 3 times to make sure that this track hadn't been posted before.
Remixed by one of my all time favorite artists - Steve "Silk" Hurley
This is just 5 minutes of pure house bliss. I have quite a few more Hurley classics in the shed - time to dig them out I think.

A big house classic from 1991!

There was a time back in 1991 when you couldn't go in any credible club without hearing this.
It was just everywhere.
It's quite simply a classic piece of house music.
Very similar in style to Kym Syms - Too Blind To See It, but far less commercial.
It was very powerful track in it's day and still sounds fantastic today.
A magical Steve "Silk" Hurley remix, boy he was hot about that era!!
Hold on Tighter indeed!!!
Love it!!

Time for some more Bananarama????

Now I'd forgive you for thinking PCC has totally lost it, as this will be the second Bananarama post on this blog.
Fear not though people both the tracks have been fantastic and huge club classics.
This one is no exception, I had this on mix tape back in 1991 and it's taken me absolutely ages to track down the correct mix.
Just ignore the fact it's Bananarama and immerse yourself in a truly wonderful Steve "Silk" Hurley remix. Be warned though the track is pretty addictive and don't blame me if you are caught singing "B B Banana B B Banana B B Banana Bananarama".
Wicked, wicked House Music!!

Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love!!!!

An absolute house classic which has totally stood the test of time, this still sounds as good today as it did when it was first released. It's hard to believe that this is now 20 years old.
You can't beat that intro -
"Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love, Love "
I distinctly remember this being dropped one night at Arena in Middlesborough circa 1994 and it set the place alight.
It is probably one of my favourite male vocal performances - by Mr Golden Tonsils himself - Mr Byron Stingily.
Produced by Marshall Jefferson and remixed by Steve "Silk" Hurley - it's like a who's who of house music.
For all those of you who are new to house music, get on this. This is classic house at it's best.
Enjoy!!!
