Looking out for love?

Fantastic classic Fleetwood Mac track made extra special by a superb remix by the trailblazer that was Arthur Baker.

I first heard this track via the world famous Chris & James Essential Mix from 1993 which still stands the test of time as the greatest mixset I've ever heard.

I've really grown to love Fleetwood Mac over the years and this track is pure heaven and just has everything.

The piano is to die for also.

Looking out for love?

Fleetwood Mac - Big Love

(A Arthur Baker Extended Remix)

Thursday, 18 April 2024

This is "the" version!

Although I posted the original mix (and a few other good remixes) of this track as long back as 2009.

This is without a shadow of a doubt the best mix.

It's pretty similar to the Original Mix for the first part of the track, but then it takes you to another level when the piano kicks in again at 4 mins 51 secs.

The next few minutes are just pure delicious piano heaven.

I first became aware of this version through the epic Chris & James Essential Mix in 1994, which even 30 years on is still my favourite DJ mix set of all time.

Full respect to the legend that is Fabi Paras for creating the original of this track, boy that man produced and remixed some amazing tracks.

Finally, also respect to Mr Healy, on one of his finest studio moments!

Enjoy!

It's more than alright!

I can't help hearing this track and thinking Chris and James - Essential Mix set- still the greatest DJ moix set ever (no question).

This was played just as Tongy voiced over.

It's a class tune and was absolutely bangin' in clubs.

A very typical Chris and James type track which just rocked!

It's better than alright.

It's slammin'!

I'll be giving you my body and my soul!

Surprised I haven't posted this one before.

Another huge banger of a remix from my all time fave dance duo, the legends that were Chris and James.

One of the great perks of running this blog back int' day was "meeting" them through it and having their contribution and input.

This is in their traditional remix vane, just an absolute banger with lots of great piano and so much uplifting energy.

Chris and James made some amazing, amazing tracks many of which are posted on the PCC blog.

It always saddens me that they not truly got the acclaim their musical genius deserved.

However, they can bask in the glory that their tracks and utterly timeless and still sound amazing to this very day.

Hats off to you chaps!

I'll be giving you my body and my soul!

P.S. If you've never checked out their Essential Mix from 1994 (of course it's on the PCC blog - it still remains as the greatest mix set of all time IMHO.

Get on it!

Ooh aah!

When I hear this track I instantly think of the Chris & James Essential Mix session which they did live on Radio 1 back in 1994.

It is still to this day the best DJ mix set I have ever heard and still sounds brilliant almost 30 years later.

It was posted on the PCC blog many moons ago, so make sure you check it out if you've not heard it.

By hook or by crook most of the tracks from that mix set have managed to make their way onto the PCC blog, just because they were all pretty amazing.

This is probably a lesser know one, but fabulous all the same.

It's a great track by the notorious Annabella Lwin, possibly most famous for posing naked on a Bow Wow Wow album cover as a 14 year old back in 1982. (It certainly wouldn't happen nowadays folks!).

The track is ballsy and contains lots of sex chants, underpinned by a really hypnotic groove.

It's a really great and unique track, typical of the Chris & James ear for obscure gems.

Get on it, you'll not regret it!

A collaboration of the remix masters!

Great remix through a collaboration between 2 of my all time fave remixers Chris Day (the Chris from Chris & James) and James Wiltshire (aka Jimmy Gomez, Freemasons).

They were without doubt 2 of the stand out remix talents of the 90s.

This collaboration as the Handbag Enthusiasts takes and old Aztec Camera track and gives it some dancefloor edge.

Not quite up there with their very best remixes, but pretty damn good regardless.

Enjoy!

Don't you bring me down!

There are lots of great remixes of this track, but this is IMHO the best.

Yes, it even tops the Chris and James version, which I've posted for comparison as they are similar.

Chris may have been involved in the Delorme mix, as I knew he did some remixes as Delorme with James Wiltshire.

Funnily enough James Wiltshire, also worked on the Chris and James remix as well.

The only think that small this track for me is the male vocal, which I'm not keen on.

A female vocal would of been much more effective.

That said it's still a great track.

Feel good - most certainly!

Another absolutely stonking track from The Delorme.

You can very much feel the Chris Day influence in this.

It has his classic touch mixing in a bit of Balearic guitar with some amazing piano breakdowns.

His tracks and remixes were always absolutely on the button.

Most certainly, one of the great remixers of our generation as all his work still sounds amazing and stands the test of time.

Also one of the most unsung heroes of our time. DJ and Remix legend!!

P.S. Worth noting that James Wiltshire (aka Jimmy Gomez/Freemasons), also engineered on this track.

Turn me on, turn me out!!

Yes indeed.
I can't believe that I haven't posted this track before.
I mean I must have but searching the blog it doesn't appear so.
A true club classic back int'day!
The Delorme version was always the one, but as ever the Chris & James remix is pretty tasty.
Massive shivers down the spine moment at 4.00 mins then the piano kicks in.
The hands would go up and the dancefloor explode!
Enjoy, as they don't make 'em like this anymore!!

Apologies, apologies!!

Sincere apologies for denying you the pleasure of not posting this one sooner.
This is an absolute corker of a track and completely sums up why Chris & James were my all time fave DJ's and one of my fave remixers.
Everything about this track is just top notch and IMHO it just epitomises the C&J style.
Banging piano, big build ups, huge breakdowns, great samples, it's got everything.
Totally, totally love it.
Big up fella's!!

Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out!!

Big up to you all.
I've now got a new laptop and hence I'll be able to post tracks more frequently, but I've still not got access to all my music and hence still have over 10,000 tracks on my old hard drive which I need to get hooked up with my laptop. I'm in the process of getting that sorted, so hopefully nomal service will be resumed shortly.
A big shout to Adam who's been posing some fantastic tracks of late and has really kep the blog ticking over in my absence. Top man.
Here's coming back at you with one of my favourite DJ Combo's, remixers, producers, both of who have frequented the PCC blog in the past.
Chris & James productions and remixes were always of the very highest quality, their ability to drop the piano chords just at the right time and t change track tempo was always absolutely spot on.
Here's one of their least known productions (from back in 1995) and one that I can't believe that I've not already posted.
It uses their theme of choosing an effective sample and building the track around it, accompanied with those fantastic tempo changes and that beautiful piano it really is a top, top piece of dance music production.
All you have to do is "Tune in, turn on, drop out".
The sample  was made famous by Timothy Leary back in 1966 advocating the use of LSD to open your mind.
Enjoy the track, it's a belter!!

Solar Powered

A bona fide classic all round here, rejuvenated for a 1998 re-release by the ever-dependable Stress label (the stable that brought us Freefall and Sunday Club, amongst others).
The bootleg mix layers the vocal from Pamela Fernandez' 1994 Ore-released 'Kickin' in the Beat' over the original instrumental, whilst Chris & James' own remake comes complete with the customary drama and ivory-tinkling one would expect from two of the most influential exponents of the 'epic house' genre.

We'll still be rockin' (in our rocking chairs) in years to come to this!!!

I must have listened to millions (well ok, maybe more like thousands, but a hell of a lot) of DJ mix sets over the years, but there is one that still remains my favourite and to be honest will IMHO probably never ever be bettered.
Yes, you've heard it before on the PCC blog, but the Chris and James - Essential Mix set from 1993 (on the blog also) is still in my mind, the greatest mix set ever performed.
I remember actually listening to it live (and taping it - on our C120 tapes - to get an hour each side with no breaks) when we were all round a mates house (on one of our rare clubbing weekends off).
I played that tape to death and made 2 extra copies, just in case I wore it out.
(We didn't have the luxury of mp3 in those days and not even the knowledge or technology to convert tape to CD!!).
Well, here's another great track from that mix set. I've probably posted nearly all the tracks from that mix set, not intentionally but just because individually there are all such fantastic tracks.
This one is, dare I say it, a typical Chris and James type track, energetic, vibey, totally rockin' and a bit out of the ordinary.
It bubbles and throbs and keeps exploding throughout.
It love the bit at the end - I haven't a clue what it say's although it sounds like "Mental, mental, mental???"
Another top, top choon!!!
Enjoy!!!

It was a Perfect Day!!!!

Now I've never been a huge fan of the royals, although fiercely patriotic (is there a bit of hypocrisy there??).
However, I  like 2 billion other people, was pretty transfixed by the Royal Wedding.
It was a truly fantastic event and it made be feel hugely proud to be British.
With all the negativity which goes on in the world today, it brought a huge feel good factor back to the nation and showed the world what a truly fantastic country we live in.
It was indeed a Perfect Day!!!
It also brought great memories back of my own Wedding Day, which (along with the birth of my two children), is still one of the greatest days in my life!!
Back to the music, this one's been posted before and I've also had it on YouTube for a while, it is a massive fave of mine and is another truly fantastic Chris and James remix.
When they describe it as an Epic Adventure it is truly that.
It starts quite slow, so be patient, but it then just builds and builds into some huge piano breakdowns and is IMHO pretty sensational.
A perfect track in memory of a Perfect Day!!
Enjoy!!

Another piece of Chris and James magic!!!

Alright, people, it's been ages since I posted a Chris and James remix.
To be totally honest I thought I'd already posted this before, but I can't seem to see it on the blog.
Maybe it got taken down by DCMA - who knows??
Anyway here it is again, in all it's splendid glory.
As per usual it is a C&J remix masterpiece, it builds slowly and then takes off.
It contains some amazing little melodies, the vocal is very powerful and the key changes are out of this world.
I also heard from James recently who was sending some good feedback about the blog.
This one's for you fella.
Chris, if you're out there I haven't heard from you for a while buddy, so get in touch.
Enjoy people!!

Come on, feel the "Sensation, Sensation"!!!

Another huge fave of mine (aren't they all??)
I'm sure that all those of you who have downloaded or listened to the legendary Chris and James Essential Mix (on the blog) will remember this one well.
Everytime I hear this track it just reminds me of that mix, which is still the greatest mix set I've ever heard.
This track is pure quality, catchy as hell with a really catchy hook and those great "Sensation, Sensation" samples. The tinkly piano is great also.
Of course the hook comes from the INXS track - New Sensation.
This one goes out to Dave who I know is a big fan of this track and has been trying to track it down for a while.
Enjoy fella, it's a belter!!

"You can't escape, you can't escape my wild love"!!!

Anyone who follows this blog will know of my great liking for Chris and James remixes and although this one isn't one of their most well known - it is right up there with some of their best (IMHO)!!.
Joy Lynn White was a not too well known Country singer and Chris and James absolutely transform this track into a huge club anthem.
Lots of great banging piano, some great chord changes and some superb breakdowns.
"You can't escape, you can't escape my wild love"!!!
Absolutely tops in my opinion, god that piano sounds good!! Just wait for the peak at 4.00 mins - awesome!!
These were the sort of tracks that absolutely rocked the dancefloors of the nations top clubs in the early 90's. Get on it.
By the way the Undertones of House is another C&J alias.
Chris, James, not heard from you for a while chaps, if you're out there drop me a line!!

Are you ready for another huge piano classic!!!

I know you are going to love this one. Talk about catchy.
I know this one was a huge Chris and James track and I can fully understand why.
It's a really, really catchy vibey tune with some superb piano being banged away all through the track. The vocals are excellent also. Another track from 1991 (there's been a few of those tonight!!).
"Dancing is like, dancing is like, dancing, dancing is like making love, all night"
A real corker this one peeps!!
Enjoy!!!

Been a while since we had a C&J Remix!!

Well peeps, it's been quite a while since we last had a Chris and James remix posted.
This one is slightly different to their usual Full On Club Mix/Solar Power Mix style which produced the huge club epics, which we all know and love.
This one has a much more funky disco house type style, but it very catchy and is a real grower.
It's not their greatest piece of work (IMHO), but it is nonetheless still very good.
"Fly away bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye"
Are you liking this one folks?? Let me know!

Another stunning piece of PCC delight!!!

Now you may not remember this one my title, but I'm sure you will when you hear it.
It's simply an immense piece of music. It has very much a movie soundtrack feel to it.
I've heard this in clubs many times before back in 1992 era and it always went down an absolute storm. I'm sure I've also heard it dropped by Sasha (but I may be wrong?).
I know that it was also a big Chris and James track.
Very atmospheric with some great melodic down beat trance vibes, slightly reminescent to some Orbital tracks, like Belfast.
I love the bit 3mins 30 secs when the cymbals bang in and it cross fades!! Stunning!
Just check out the piano at the end as well. Oh my, this is good!!
"Let there be House" indeed!!!
