Just sublime!

This brings back some great memories from 1992.

This was a monstrous track back then and at the forefront of the progressive house sound.

Alawys a big track at Back To Basics in Leeds for weeks on end.

Still sounds great today and that peak at 3.46 mins was an epic "hands in air" moment which blew the roof off.

Exciting times, great memories.

Immortal track! Just sublime!

Whole-some!

This was always a huge track back in 1992 and was played by pretty much all the top jocks at the time.

This one always reminds me of Back To Basics (before it moved to the Pleasure Rooms).

It still sounds exactly like it is a fantastic progressive house number.

Rock on!

I've also posted the LME remix, although this was no way as popular in the clubs, like all LME remixes it rocks some.

The spirit is strong!

Back in 1992 everything JR remixed was pure gold, with his famed trumpets.

This was another banger and just so trade mark his style.

Another great track which has retained it vibe and spirit despite being 30 years old.

His DJ sets from around that era were also pretty epic and I remember hearing him a good few times at Back To Basics in Leeds rockin' the gaff!

Enjoy!

Woh-a-ho!

Fantastic track from 1994 and a great piece of progressive house.

Those were such exciting times in clubs, as the euphoria of the early days of acid house and the original rave scene lead onto the dressed up era of clubbing.

Back To Basics in Leeds was at the forefront of this new era and Alistair Cooke and Ralph Lawson were two great resident DJs leading the way who typified this new progressive house sound.

This track is one of many  that were absolutely electric on the dancefloor of that period.

Woh-a-ho!

Enjoy!

End of night stormer!

Totally love this track with a superb remix by the super talented genius that is Moby.

I remember Ali Cooke dropping this last track of the night one night at Basics back in 1992.

As you can imagine it went down a storm.

Just a superb track, with amazing piano throughout.

Enjoy!

Keep it in the family!!

I'm testing my credibility here, but staying on the Minogue sisters vibe.
Yeah, I know this is poppy as hell, but I remember hearing Jon of Pleased Wimmin drop it when I was on the floor at Back 2 Basics and it absolutely set the place alight.
It's all about the timing!!

Who, Who Pays the Piper??

A big fave of mine from back in 1992.
This was a track which was huge at Back to Basics in Leeds (hence the flyer) and always got a great dancefloor reaction.
It is very dark, but also very infectious.
A great remix by Oakenfold and Osbourne, they were right at their remix peak around this time.
The track is very dramatic with the whispered Gary Clail vocals.
I always loved the line;
"Designer drugs at designer prices, pills, thrills and other vices"
Whos pays the piper indeed!!!
Enjoy

"Can you hear it - release the pressure?"

Another one I used to love back in the day.
This was a huge track at Back To Basics in Leeds in 1992.
It really epitomised the spirit of a lot of the music coming out at that time.
The piano tunes of the old skool days as we knew it were no longer played out and the onset of progressive house and harder edged tracks were very much in vogue.
This was a typical example of one of those tracks and along with tracks likeFunky Guitar and Rhythm de Londres were storming examples of the new music coming through, with that great looping opening!
"Can you hear it, release the pressure".
Geat vocals by Earl Sixteen - to boot, as well!
Leftfield produced some great tracks and more will be posted on the blog in due course.
Enjoy!!

Check this one out for a monster!!!!

I used to absolutely love this one, which was huge back in 1993 - and an absolutely massive track at Back To Basics in Leeds (and here's and old flyer as a further reminder).
I spent many a time spinning round the dancefloor to this one.
This is progressive house at it's finest - a fierce driving rhythm with some scorching beautiful piano blended in.
This was one track which you just couldn't stand still to.
Oh the memories - Awesome!!!!

"I get down on my knees and pray today!!"

Ok you house purists out there, so the last track may not have been to your tastes, but this one certainly will be, it's a huge house anthem from 1995.
For me it brings back some great memories of hearing this at Back to Basics in Leeds.
The track contains some awesome piano, a wonderful vocal from Alysha Warren and is up there with Roger S' finest remixes.
All in all a top class piece of house music and 10 minutes long which is unusual for a classic house track, but every second is worth it.
I love the last bit - the "Heaven Knows" finale - quality!!
Enjoy people

"Hallelujah Somebody" - "Talk about Liberation!!"

A huge dancefloor smash from back in 1992, with some great samples in it.
This one brings back memories of night at Back To Basics in Leeds in 92 and hence the flyer above.
The track's got a very catchy riff and the same riff that was used in Bump - Im Rushing and many many more club tracks. It also contains some great piano.
"Hallelujah Somebody" - "Talk about Liberation!!" Yes indeedy!!
I'm sure you all remember this one and ofi course the sequel Liberation 2 - which was posted on the blog several months back.
Enjoy people, you know that you want to!!!

Do you remember this one???

Well I've pulled out some of the old flyers from nights I attended and have scanned in this one above..
I remember this track being dropped by Boy George at Back To Basics back in 1994.
It was when Basics had moved from the Music Factory to the Pleasure Rooms.
About the track, well no prizes for guessing the riff, a bit easy this one, stolen from Dire Straits - Money For Nothing.
The track was a big hit at the time and got huge dancefloor response, sounds a tad cheesy now, but it certainly was a PCC back in the day.
If nothing else I'm sure it will bring back a few good memories.
Enjoy!!

More hands in the air please!!!

Here's another great track that just built and built and then finally exploded.
It had that oh so familar guitar riff from "Funky Guitar".
That's the great thing about dance tracks, they never have any shame in sampling each others tracks.
You may recall that The Flavour had an absolute club monster with "No Matter What You Do". While this one is now quite in that league, it's none the less a great track and was massive at Vague in Leeds and also Paradise Factory in Manchester and absolutely hammered by the likes of Jon of the Pleased Wimmin and TWA.
A really great club tune that never failed to set the dancefloor alight.
I've posted TC1992 as well, so you can haer the comparison and the guitar riff. Now this tune brings back some amazing memories of Back To Basics in Leeds. Whenever this track was played it was always one of the highlights of the night "1,2,3,4". I guess because it was so unique. There was simply nothing else like it out there at the time.
"Ain't no words to this song, you just dancing all alone"
Great memories, great times, great tracks. Enjoy people!!!

I, I get so, I get so restless!!

A real funky little number from back in 1992.
This was sure to rock the dancefloors. Catchy as hell and then some more.
"I, I get so, I get so restless"
"I, I get so, I get so restless"
This one used to be a big tune at Back To Basics in Leeds.
Quality tune!!

A Back To Basics Club Classic!!

Anyone frequenting Back to Basics in Leeds during 1992 and 1994 will certainly remember this track. A real funky little number. With a great little catchy chorus and not one you'd likely forget the words to!!!
It was the only club that I ever used to hear it played, but every time it was dropped it went down a real treat.
Check it out!!

Get into a little bit of France!!

A truly great track that builds and builds then takes off when the "horn" comes in at the end.
This track brings back great memories of Back To Basics in Leeds, it was constantly played as the Progressive House scene was reaching it's peak back in 1992.
Good times indeed. It's amazing that this was 17 years ago, it feels like yesterday!!
Lots of great mixes of this track, but this was the one!

Come and catch the train - all aboard - let's go!!

This was always one of the most memorable tracks of the night.
An absolute monster that used to send everyone wild.
This was another track that was hammered by all the top DJ's for months on end. I recall a great night at Back 2 Basics when this blew everyone away.
When that guitar riff kicks in and
"turn around the corner half a mile from here, without love where would you be now, without love".
It was a good track anyway before Sure is Pure transformed it into the club classic it became.
It was also very reminiscent of the type of tracks which were coming out then with the X-Press 2, Roach Motel, Rocky, Diesel, Farley, Heller, Boys Own type stuff.
Enjoy!!!

Talk about Liberation (2)!!

This one rocked the nations dancefloors. I clearly remember a night in Back to Basics in Leeds when the crowd when crazy to this.
Along with Jesse Jackson quote "You must smile through your tears"

I think this is better than the first Liberation track.
Piano breakdown to kill for!
Enjoy!
