Yeh, yeh, yet your!

Anyone who has followed the PCC blog even infrequently will know of my huge admiration of both these artists.

Donna is without any doubt the Queen of Disco and one of the most iconic vocalists of all time.

In a similar vein James Wiltshire aka Jimmy Gomez if one of the very best dance music producers/remixes of his generation.

You bring these two genii together and you have true greatness and this is very much evidenced in this track.

It is undoubtedly the best version of this iconic song which captures Donna's glorious vocals and the trademark Jimmy G spinetingling piano chords.

Heavenly, sit back, relax and enjoy!

One of the all time greatest!

One of the greatest tracks ever produced.

I remember when I was first introduced to it I just played it over and over again as I was just so blown away by it.

Donna (and Giorgio Moroder) were probably more well known for the ground breaking "I Feel Love", but as good as that was this is in my opinion was the real pièce de résistance.

The fact that the track is nearly 18 minutes long, but never at any point do you want it to finish.

It is just an epic, epic monstrous track.

A big thanks to my good friend Ed from over the pond for introducing it to me.

This one's for you Ed!

Barry or Donna?

Barry or Donna what's it going to be?

Anything but Take That.

Two superb versions of one fantastic track.

Barry's original came out in 1973 and was covered by Donna in 1976, when those Take That chappies were still at kindergarten!

I think the Donna version just pips it for me, her vocals are out of this world.

The Barry remix is from 1997 and is a great piece of work.

(Full Version)

He's got a crush on my best friend!

Back with yet another classic from the divine Ms. Summer from 1977.

Pretty much everything she did was superb and this in no different.

Covered admirably by Sophie Lawrence in the 80's nothing compares to the original Donna track.

Furthermore this version by the supremely talented DJDiscoCat is just so on the money.

Disco never dies.

Don't be a bad girl!

You sometimes forget just how good some of these old classics are.
This is a track that inspired hundreds of others and has been sampled to death.
I haven't listened to it for ages, but it creates that sort of great emotions.
A total bonafide classic which although 37 years old still sounds fresh and is so timeless, that it will still sound great in another 37 years.
Quality never dies.
RIP Donna Summer!

Same track, different mix!

I posted the Trousers Enthusiasts remix of this recently which is awesome.
This mix is much more commercial but very catchy.
It also showcases Donna's stunning vocals very effectively.
A real feel good track.
Enjoy!

Ready for some Hot Stuff??

Yeah, of course you are.
Staying on the Frankie vibe and further endorsing my statement that the Great Man maintained his prolific nature of churning out absolute quality all throughout his long and illustrious music career.
This must have been one of the last things he produced before his untimely death.
It's an absolutely tops re-working of the old Donna Summer classic.
Loving it!!
Big shout out to Simon for passing this one my way.
Cheers fella!
Enjoy people!!

R.I.P. Donna Summer!!

It was very sad to hear of the death of Donna Summer this week.
Donna was one of the iconic Disco divas and "I Feel Love" was considered by many to be the birth of disco. Several of her tracks are posted on the blog and here is another classic.
This one from 1989 has had a fierce re-working by Clivilles and Cole, who produced some real gems.
It showcases both Donna's vocal talents and also the real quality of C&C's production.
It's got some lovely piano, some funky vibes and an all round great feel.
Enjoy!!
Donna Summer - first lady of disco!! R.I.P.

A big shout out to VP!!!

This one goes out to the man with the Velvet Pants.
A great suggestion VP.
That's the great thing about running the blog, when people remind you of tracks which you've totally forgot about but totally love.
This is one of those such tracks.
I can remember boogie-ing away to this on the Hac dancefloor.
It's a superb remix by Mr Morales absolutely on the button with this one!!
Very similar in style to his remix of Mariah's Dream Lover (yes - top notch).
It's a massive feel good track with some delightful piano and of course those luscious Donna Summer vocals.
Magnifique!!
Thanks for the reminder VP - big up!!

Here comes the Ultimate Disco Classic!!!

Yes, this one is widely known, but it's a fantastic piece of dance music and even though it's over 30 years old it still sounds fresh and not over played.
This is the 15 minute version and every single second of it is awesome.
There are lots of shorter versions, lots of remixes of this but in my mind this is still the best version and it gives you close to 16 minutes of a total pure club classic.
To be honest the longer the track goes on the more I like it, I particularly like the bit 12.30mins in.
Just an awesome track. A true piece of dance music history!
Enjoy!!!
