Staying on the Balearic tip here's a fabulous track which was big back in 1989. It's everything a Balearic track should be; totally chilled, really catchy and it just hits the spot.
Love the intor lyrics;
"You've go to feel it in your gut, get up and move your butt"
"Feel the music in your gut, get up and move your butt"
Some really clever use of instruments in this, bits of guitar, sax, pipes and lots of samples and clever edits. It still sounds pretty unique and fresh even though it's 20 years old.
Balearic Bliss!!
Enjoy!!
Izit - Stories
check out the original by Boney M....
ReplyDeleteBal, Thanks for your comments. However, I think you'll find that the Izit version was the original and it was in fact Boney M who copied that.
ReplyDeleteRegardsless, the Izit version wins hands down in my mind.

You know Gilles Peterson always talks about 'joining the dots' or something.....finding out the lineage of all music and working out how it all links together. I'm afraid neither of you are right......its actually from 1972 - written by Chakachas , its an old funk / soul record. The Izit track is a very nice balearic update from 17 years or so later! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iP1fkLf-PI .....
ReplyDeleteThanks CD,
ReplyDeletefor correcting my ignorance.
It appears that nearly all tracks seem to have roots going back to either disco, rare groove, soul or funk.
There was me thinking it was an original piece of music.
Regardless, it's still a fab track and a big improvement on the original, where as the Boney M version is just a blatant rip off.
Regards, PCC
I always thought Izit was the original, You learn something every day! Never heard the Chakachas version, where can you find that? Brings back great memories, thanks
