'Cause, it's worth it!

Staying on the Pet Shop Boys theme, I couldn't resist posting this one.

Yet another superb Brothers In Rhythm remix creates a epic re-working of a great pop song.

My admiration for the PSB's has grown over the years as I've uncovered more of their underground tracks and this is right up there with their best stuff.

Neil's vocals are always so distinctive and they work to great effect on this track.

BiR of course have the Midas touch and voila we have a supremely produced piece of dance music delight.

"Yes it's worth living for"

Pet Shop Boys – Was It Worth It?

(12" Version)

It's a scandal!

A cracking re-working of an old Dusty Springfield track, by the Pet Shop Boys, from 1990.

They were huge Dusty fan's and also huge fans of the underground dance music movement, in addition to their more overground pop success.

A great remix by Oakey/Osbourne create a piano laden delight.

Enjoy!

So good, it's so good!

A big fave of mine, although not the mix I'm most familiar with which was the "149 Club Mix" previously posted on the PCC blog many years ago (back in 2010).

However, it's "So good, it's so good!" I thought it was definitely worthy of another post.

Love pretty much all Steve Proctor's remix work, he was and still is a dance music ledge!

Enjoy people!

Museka - Beautiful In Red

(Steve Proctor Mix)

Take a trip to Mekka!

Cracking track from 2001 which was a regular feature in many of Oakey's sets around that time.

Also featuring the wonderful Dominique Atkins more famed for her vocalist work in the Oakey/Osbourne collab Grace.

This track has some pounding beats and those wonderful ethereal vocals snippets from Dominique.

Get on it!

Mekka - Diamondback

(Original Mix)

Someday a spirit will lift you and take you there!

A cracking little track from 1995 which does indeed have the spirit of Ibiza '89.

It was also released under the title Everybody's Free (The Mambo Pacha Mix) by Rozalla.

It's a cracking little mix and well worth a spin.

Someday a spirit will lift you and take you there!

Enjoy!

Espirit - Sueno Ibiza

(Alfredo's Spirit of '89 Mix)

I'll be around anywhere!

Loved some of the stuff Dubstar did and always loved Sarah Blackwood's vocals.

This was their first track (from 1995) and it's a catchy little number with a great Graeme Park remix.

Of course in true Parky style it contains a great house groove and is laced with some excellent piano.

Fine work once again from the house music legend.

Definitely a hidden little gem!

Dubstar - Anywhere

Keep the Faith!

As a further tribute to Maxi, here's another well known Faithless track given a monster re-working.

Pretty much everything Above & Beyond touched was pure gold and this is no exception.

It retains the original vibe of the track, but just adds another dimension.

I also had to post the Danny Tenaglia remix which is equally awesome - 12 minutes of pure adrenaline.

Whilst the Way Out West Mix oozes their usual class and is also a cracker.

I'm not sure I could choose which is the best as they are all pretty different, but all very awesome at the same time.

That's the beauty of remixes!

Enjoy!

R.I.P. Maxi

Very sad to hear that Maxi Jazz passed just before Christmas.

Hi vocal style was truly unique and although for me Faithless, were a touch too mainstream, they did undoubtedly create some epic tracks.

This is one of their best known and has two great remixes which make it more underground.

The Rollo & Sister Bliss Remix is everything you'd expect and done to perfection in their fantastic style.

The Armin remix is also great and really gives the track a new uplift.

R.I.P. Maxi your musical legacy will always be there.

Faithless - We Come One

(Rollo & Sister Bliss Remix)

Faithless - We Come 1 2.0

(Armin Van Buuren Remix)

More excellence from Matt!

Another banger from Matt Darey from 1999.

His remixwork from that era was always of such an impeccably high standard.

He certainly was the trance guru of that time.

This one is in his usual inimitable style, "rockin' the gaff".

Enjoy!

Blockster - Grooveline

(Matt Darey Remix)

Acieed in the house!

An acid house classic from 1988.

It combines those lovely squelchy acid Roland TB303 sounds with some great gospel style vocals and then peaks when some great piano kicks in.

I believe Adonis also had a hand in this.

A timeless classic.

Charles B - Lack Of Love

(Club Mix)

Will you still love me??

Yet another fantastic remix by E-Smoove, this one from 1995.

Everything he touches is pure gold and he very rarely made a remix which wasn't top notch house music.

This is yet on the vibe and laced with his trademark piano.

Great track and some great lyrics also.

Bruce Roberts featuring Elton John - When The Money's Gone

(E-Smoove Club Mix)

Our Father, who art in heaven!

Breeder created some great tracks just around the turn of the Millennium.

Driving progressive trance which had great energy and fizzed along, yet always had a wonderful serene and atmospheric peak.

I'm surprised this is the first track of theirs I've posted, but it won't be the last!

Enjoy!

Breeder - Tyrantanic

(Slacker's Kingdom Come Mix)

A blast from the past!

Superb track from 1988 and very popular at the time, both in clubs and the mainstream.

This version is pure class and still sounds great.

Love it!

Bomb The Bass featuring Lauraine - Don't Make Me Wait

(Maximum Frequency Mix)

Feel the funky music!

Fantastic track from the uber talented Ashley Beedle.

I'm amazed this is the first BSO track on the PCC Blog as most of their tracks and remixes were of the highest order.

Normally on the more soulful jazzy side of house, but always beautifully produced.

This is long coming in at nearly 12 minutes, but it one heck of a groovy journey.

First released in 1996 it still sounds just as impressive today.

Get on it!

Music for the people indeed!

When I first heard this, I thought what a fantastic track and had no idea who it was.

Hence, I was really shocked to find out it was a new recording from the Luvdup legends.

Adrian and Mark have always been one of my fave DJ and Remix artists.

The quality of the work they have produced over the last 30 years is truly amazing not to mention their fantastic DJ sets.

I've had some of my best ever clubbing nights listening to their sets.

About the track, well it's just as good as everything and anything they've ever done, which is high praise indeed.

It's a complete barnstorming piano avalanche of a track. Absolutely off the scale.

Chapeau chaps - superb!

Music for the people - most certainly!

Luvdup - Music for the People

(Paradise Vocal Mix)

Say, doing alright, doing alright!

It's great to hear that there is still great music being produced.

This is one of my favourite tracks this year (2022).

It's just great from start to finish, with fantastic vocals from Pauline Taylor.

What a great track.

I've posted 2 mixes as they are both superb.

The Floorplan remix is probably more clubby and contains some amazing piano, but both are fantastic.

Enjoy!

Sophie Lloyd (feat. Pauline Taylor) - Angels By My Side

Sophie Lloyd (feat. Pauline Taylor) - Angels By My Side

(Floorplan Extended Remix)

How does it feel baby?

This has been getting lots of play in the past few weeks on the PCC playlist.

It is just a sensational timeless classic and one that gets better with every listen.

An amazing remix by Tom Moulton accompanied by superb vocals from Bettye Swann.

Dance music perfection? Not far off.

Just glorious!

Bettye Swann-When The Game Is Played On You

(Tom Moulton Remix)

This Woman's Work is amazing!

There's been a huge resurgence on Kate Bush recently and rightly so, she has always been a truly unique and trailblazing artist.

Her voice touched parts others couldn't reach and her work if remixed well can be sensational.

This is one such remix.

Spinetingling-ly brilliant, Kate's ethereal vocals mixed with the lush piano are just bliss.

A truly great track.

Enjoy!

Kate Bush - This Woman's Work

(Echoes remix)

It's snowy outside!

Every single time!

Yet another barnstorming remix by the sensations that are the Trouser Enthusiasts.

They never created anything less than top, top quality remixes.

Some great vocals also in this, by Anggun.

Snow is pretty topical as it is all around me when I look out of the window on this dark cold day in December.

Enjoy the track, it's another belter!

Anggun - Snow On The Sahara

(Trouser Enthusiasts Kangaroo Juice Remix)

All we can do is....

Always loved this track from 1989.

Very much on the laid back tip but just glorious.

His first hit "If Only I Could" was a much bigger chart success, but this one which followed was always the one for me.

It's just that beautiful little piano riff - heavenly.

Thirty odd years on this is still a fantastic track - totally timeless.

Enjoy!

Sydney Youngblood - Sit & wait

Oh yeah - what do you reckon(er)?

When you bring the brilliance of Radiohead and Above and Beyond together you just know you're going to get something special and this is exactly that.

This is from 2008 and is just a superb track, A&B were cement their status as one of the best trance remixes and the tortured excellence of Radiohead is very clear to see.

That piano breakdown is just heaven!

Get on it!

Radiohead - Reckoner

(Above & Beyond Remix)

Feel the difference?

Nothing original about this old skool banger from 1991.

It samples from just about anywhere, however that doesn't detract from it being a catchy little track.

Certainly not the most original, but nice all the same.

Fits Of Gloom - Differences

(Volvo Mix)

I want to thank you for the joy you give!

Tasty little number from 1995.

Not quite as spectacular as Someday, but good all the same.

Pretty decent remix by Gems For Jems as per usual.

Enjoy!

Eddy - (You Bring Out) The Best In Me

(Gems For Jems Vocal Mix)

Call the cheese police?

I shouldn't like this, but I do.

A slightly cheesy Eurobeat version of the Aerosmith classic.

Yes, it's cheesy but it's still a pretty decent effort and it does sound great.

Some great vocals by Tasmin.

Give it a go a bit of cheese is healthy for a good all round dance music diet!

Deja Vu Featuring Tasmin - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing

(Definitive Mix)

You make me hot!

Great piece of uplifting house from 1995.

Great vocals, great piano, quality house music just as we like it.

Great remix from Mark P.

The lyrics are a bit cheesey, but this doesn't detract from it being a great track

"You take me higher and higher,

You fulfil my desires!"

Enjoy!

Club 69 Featuring Annette Taylor And Kim Cooper

– Sugar Pie Guy

(MARK!'s Epic Vocal Mix)

My all time winner!

Staying on the disco classics, this is a slice of heaven from 1984.

Like many tracks from that era the production is just superb and really stands out.

The authentic use of "proper instruments" provides the longevity of these tracks compared to a lot of the modern made in a bedroom EDM trash.

Great vocals from Miquel (Sinitta's Mum and definitely the better singer of the two!).

Miquel Brown ‎– He's A Saint, He's A Sinner

In and out of love?

This has been posted previously on the PCC blog in a long post with many associated variations.

Re-posting again though as this remix is top class and different to the previous posted.

John Morales is the absolute master at re-vamping and re-structuring old disco classics, making them longer and showcasing all the musical elements so perfectly.

Jackie's vocals are amazing on this track and the musical production is just superb.

A disco classic, that never dates even though it's 43 years old!

Timeless!

Jackie Moore – This Time Baby

(John Morales M&M Mix)

I want everything! Give me everything!

Totally love this, what a fantastic track.

Not too much Duran Duran in it, but fantastic nonetheless.

The female vocals and the lush piano are just top notch.

A superb track and a really great remix.

"I want everything, all of what you do.

Every night, every day, I want all of you"

Get on it, you won't be sorry!

Duran Duran - All Of You

Black hole, naked soul...

Cracking track with yet another superb Above and Beyond remix from 2000.

Were Above and Beyond the best trance remixers of that era?

Definitely up there.

Also surprised that this is the first Adamski track on the PCC blog

"Black hole, naked soul, liquid gold let it roll, at the same time"

Enjoy!

Adamski – In The City

(Above And Beyond Mix)

No Monkey Business here!

Love this track from 1987 a great re-working of the old Hot Chocolate classic.

I have to say that I much prefer this version, which is great and contains some superb piano and a really upbeat disco eurobeat.

I believe it was dropped by the LuvDup twins in their sets and seems very in keeping with the fantastic eclectic stuff they'd played.

"Everyone's a winner babe" for sure!

Monkey Business - Every 1's a Winner

Ready for the legend?

A superb piece of house music from 1994.

Very typical of a lot of the tracks which came out on Strictly Rhythm, with a delicious deep house groove and laced with superb piano.

A great track which really hits you hard.

I always loved a track which changes tempo mid track, which this does wickedly several times.

Get on it!

Loop 7 - The Theme

(The Legend)

Woh-a-ho!

Fantastic track from 1994 and a great piece of progressive house.

Those were such exciting times in clubs, as the euphoria of the early days of acid house and the original rave scene lead onto the dressed up era of clubbing.

Back To Basics in Leeds was at the forefront of this new era and Alistair Cooke and Ralph Lawson were two great resident DJs leading the way who typified this new progressive house sound.

This track is one of many  that were absolutely electric on the dancefloor of that period.

Woh-a-ho!

Enjoy!

First Life - Be One Of Us

(The Immortal Mix)

Clap your hands, stomp your feet!

Superb track from the Godfather of Hip-House - Fast Eddie.

The acid bass in this is lethal.

I loved Hip House it was just such a great sub-genre.

Come on "Clap your hands, stomp your feet!"

33 years on this still rocks!

Fast Eddie - Hip House '89

(Julian ''Jumpin'' Perez Mix)

Come on now!

A superb and very underrated and underplayed house gem from 1990.

A great groove, great vocals, some exquisite piano this should have been bigger.

It's a great little track that has stood the test of time.

Ed Terry - Show Me Love

(The Palace De Beauté Mix)

Piano vibes in the house!

3 minutes of piano-tastic grooves from 1987.

Still sounds great today and would still go down a storm on all decent clubland dancefloors.

Quality is permanent.

Get on it!

DJ Lelewel - House Machine

(Piano Dub Version)

Roll the drums!

Love them or hate them DJ Flavours always produced some belting tracks.

This ones from 1995.

Certainly not for the house purists amongst you, but always very catchy.

Too many samples to mention on this one, but it all makes for a great track laced with lots of great piano.

Roll the drums!

Get on it!

Trance anthem in the house!

Can't quite believe that I've not posted this before now (apologies!).

One of the true all time trance classics.

Veracocha was of course an alias of the great trance legends Ferry Corsten and Vincent De Moor.

A massive Oakey track on many of his sets around this era - 1999.

Still sounds great to this very day and probably always will.

This was when trance was at it's peak.

Good old days!

Ayla - Ayla

(Veracocha Remix)

You're a shy child!

Sensational track from that stellar year of 1991.

This track should have been much bigger than it was as it's pretty immense.

It was one which always sounded amazing out.

Beautiful piano chords, some great vocals from Linda Wright and a really great house vibe.

It still sounds great over 30 years on.

A real under appreciated house classic!

The Sound Foundation - Quiet Child

(48 Hours Mix)

I can do it better baby!

Love this just great instant house music.

Great vocals by Daisy Dee and some great piano.

It's lively, energetic and very catchy.

Quite a funny little cheesey rap in it as well.

Possibly not one for the purists, but still good all the same.

The Daisy Project Ft. Daisy Dee - Do It Better

(12'' Club Remix)

I'll come with you to the promised land!

Great track from 1996 which was big with most of the nations top jocks.

A great little groove with some lush vocals by Jan Johnston, another great dance music vocalist.

I'll come with you to the promised land!

Sub Merge - Take Me By The Hand

(Vocal Mix)

To be, got to be free!

Love this from 1996.

Nush were always on it and produced and remixed some great tracks.

This is typical of their skippy progressive house sound.

To be, got to be free!

Move & Motion - Refunk

(Nush Remix)

Be a Free Spirit!

Another fantastic track mainly due to the Queen of the Trance Vocal - Ms. Maria Nayler.

She has such a wonderful angelic vocal that it brings any track to life and is the perfect compliment to pounding trance.

This ones from 2003 and nearly twenty years on it still sounds great.

Enjoy!

Marc et Claude feat. Maria Nayler - Free Spirit

(Marc van Linden Remix)

Feel the paradise!

Great little skippy house number from 1989 which still sounds great.

Some lush piano and a some great breathy vocals.

Paradise? Not far off.

A great little track.

M.B.G. - This Is Paradise

(Classic Age Remix)

Your light shines on!

Very sad to hear of the passing of Joyce Sims this week.

She has a hugely talented vocalist and adorned many great disco and house tracks.

This is a really smooth little house ditty from 1990, less fierce than most of TT's remixes, but still very good all the same.

R.I.P Joyce your place in dance music history will always be remembered.

Joyce Sims - All About Love

(Todd Terry Vocal Remix)

Special - yes DM certainly is!

Like so many before it, a pretty bang average house track is saved by yet another superb Morales remix.

This one is from 1995 and it contains all the great things we'd expect from a Morales remix with superb percussion and laden with superb piano.

I'm not a big fan of the male vocals, but as mentioned DM saves the day.

Get on it!

Robbie Craig - Special

(DM Remix)

I'm flying away!

A touch on the commercial side, but still a really great track from 2000.

Again superb vocals and a nice driving rhythm with some lovely ethereal chants.

It is a real feel good factor track.

22 years on it still sounds great!

Planet Funk - Chase The Sun

(Extended Club Mix)

Wishing you a Fine Day!

The legend that is Steve Anderson turns ok-ish pop track into an epic piano laden dance anthem.

This is another track which should have been bigger in clubs.

You can really feel the BiR tinge in this.

The ethereal vocals were very unique at the time back in 1992.

Enjoy!

Opus III - It's A Fine Day

(Club Remix - The Spiralling Of Winter Ghosts)

How Soon?

More groovilicious delight from the Legend that was Andrew Weatherall (R.I.P).

Transforming a pretty damn good indie band into a dancefloor smash.

Andy was the master at that.

This was all ground-breaking stuff at the time.

Indie dance as we know and love it!

Groove on!

 My Bloody Valentine - Soon

(The Andrew Weatherall Mix)

Give me a song!

Possibly a bit on the cheesey side of trance, but saved by the epic vocals by the delectable Maria Nayler.

Maria was without doubt one of the best trance vocalists, just pure ethereal aural delight.

This one dates from 2002 and as mentioned is a bit commercial for my tastes, but catchy all the same.

Motion 3 Feat Maria Nayler - Babyland

(72 Attack Mix)

No I won't play this game!

I always loved Mary J, she was super talented, hence when given the Morales remix treatment you know it is going to be pure quality.

One of her less well known tracks and I'm not sure why this wasn't bigger in clubs as it's absolutely top drawer.

A really great track and a superb piano laden remix, it should have been bigger.

Got on it!

Mary J. Blige - Right Now

(David Morales Classic Remix)

"Everything will be perfect, Tonight and forever"

 Another glorious piece of trance.

Lange remixes were alsways absolute top drawer.

This is a great track and the angelic vocals by Tracey Carmen just melt you when they kick in.

Late 90's truly was an era of fantastic trance.

This still sounds amazing 23 years on.

"Everything will be perfect,

Tonight and forever"

Lost Witness - Happiness Happening

(Lange Remix)

1,2,3 Go!

More greatness from the legend that was Andrew Weatherall (R.I.P).

This is a great floaty, dreamy piece of progressive house. very much in the Sabres style.

Less of K-Klass and more of Sabres in this remix.

Top drawer though.

K-Klass - 1, 2, 3, (Sabres Of Paradise Remix 1)

Catch the pigeon!

Superb bit of grooviness by Kid Creole and his Coconuts and with a nice little remix by the legend that is Graeme Park.

This one was first out in 1982, although the Parky remix was done in 1993.

Get funking to this one!

Kid Creole and the Coconuts - Stool Pigeon

(Parkside Birdhouse Mix)

Stop? No more please!

More quality from the TE's, they just didn't do bad remixes.

Every thing they touched was superb and this is no different.

This one from 2000 is very much in their trademark, thumping, pumping, driving energetic style, building to a superb peak.

They were just trance masters of the highest quality.

Get on it!

Jon Secada - Stop

(Trouser Enthusiasts Club Mix)

You, You and Me Baby!

Superb laid back groove from 1977.

Totally timeless and still sounds amazing.

The production on these tracks were superb and hence why they stand the test of time so well.

Great remix by Tom Moulton.

Very Balearic in it's essence this one.

Enjoy!

(Tom Moulton Mix)

Cosmic - oh yeah baby!

A great piece of sublime trance from 1994.

Slightly on the commercial vibe akin to Robert Myles - Children, but very nice all the same.

A lovely feel and some sublime tinkly piano with a great trance groove.

Still sound great also 30 years on.

Enjoy!

Cosmic Baby - Fantasia

(Album Version)

Feel the infatuation?

Used to love this back in 1992, just a really good house groove.

Bottom Dollar produced some great stuff and loads of remixes to boot.

This is just a quality track and always sounded great on the floor.

Enjoy!

Bottom $ - Infatuation

(NYC Club Mix)

Tuff enough?

Always liked this one which was pretty big in 1994.

A little big proggy, but more hangbag it always got a good reaction on the dancefloor.

Nice piano in it and some catchy crowd noise.

Enjoy!

Boomerang - So Damn Tuff

(Babylon Mix)

Can't you feel it?

 Great house track from 1993.

Tons of great piano and a real deep groove throughtout.

Mixed with lots of great vocal stabs, it's a real stomper.

Enjoy!

Donnie Mark - Stand Up For The Soul

(Grand Club Mix)

Feel the Good Feeling!

Yet another great old skool piano house track from 1991.

This one doesn't appear to be doing that much unless the thunderous piano kicks in.

From there it's fasten your seat belts stuff.

Get on it!

Doi-oing - Good Feeling

Let there be House!

Great Hip House classic from 1989.

This was a big track back int'day and still sounds great.

Love the piano in this also especially the bit at the end.

All together "Let there be House"

Enjoy!

Deskee - Let There Be House

(West Bam Mix)

I can hear a voice coming from higher!

Another great old skool track that you may have forgotten about (or not heard).

This one is from 1990 and has a great feel to it.

The female vocals are lovely and it really touches you deep.

Just lovely!

Dirty Trick Featuring Lucky EF ‎- Peace....Inside My Heart

Listen to the man - Don't stop!

Love this track and it was huge in 1993.

Quite a long intro and it takes a while to build so be patient.

However, the wait is certainly worth it when it explodes with a crescendo of piano.

Great early progressive track.

Fond memories of this from Cream in the early 90's.

Enjoy!

Direct 2 Disc - Don't Stop

Can't you see that I love nobody else?

Another great little relatively unknown old skool gem from 1991.

Again lots of familiar samples and vocal snippets, but throw in some old skool piano and it instantly gives it a great vibe.

Nothing original about this one, but that doesn't spoil the aural pleasure.

Old skool like we know it simple, but oh so nice!

Dineka ‎– You Make Me Feel

(Fix Version)

Don't ever miss the goal???

One of those great old skool tracks which you probably won't know by name, but you will certainly know it when it you hear it

Love this and have it on so many great old skool mix sets from back in the day.

Those Italians certainly knew how to make great piano house back in the early 90's.

Full of piano and great high pitched vocals.

I could never figure out what you was singing, but used to love signing along

"High men say, high men say, don't ever miss the goal"

D.J D. Lite, also produced some other classic old skool tracks under several alias including 4  For Money and Tingo Tango. Classic tracks which feature on the PCC blog.

D.J. D. Lite – Tropical Movement

(Tropical Mix)

You know I want to!

I appears to be meandering along this track with not too much excitement, then bam in comes the piano and it takes off .

Cotton Club did some great stuff in the 90's and loads of great remixes also.

Love this one full of energy and that great late 90's feel, this one's from 1998.

Some stonking piano on this.

Enjoy!

Cotton Club - Hear the Drummer

(The Original Big Mix)

Don't play the fool!

Just old fashioned old skool Italian piano house from 1990.

What's not to love?

Relatively simple in it's make up this one, with lots of familiar samples but that only adds to it's appeal.

"Don't play the fool"

Tendance - I Can't Take it

(Piano House)

You've got to learn to be loved!

Totally love this track from 1996.

It' intro sounds a little like the intro to "Echo Drop", then pops in this gorgeous angelic vocal.

I'm surprised this wasn't bigger as it is pure quality.

"You've got to learn to be loved!"

Enjoy!

Tallulah - Everything

(The Stuntmen's Original 12'' Mix)

Yeah it's party time yo!

Corking house classic from 1990.

Those piano chords are pure class.

This track has a very C&C feel to it although it is Victor Simonelli and Arthur Baker behind it.

Love it!

Soul Rebellion - Simple Rhythm

(12" Dub Version)

This love is real!

As soon as I hear this I think of Oakey and some of those amazing trance sets he played in the mid 90's.

This has everything a good trance should have, pumping energy, lush undertones, a pounding beat and it just builds and builds, then that gorgeous piano, not with standing some great vocals.

Still sounds amazing today which is a testament to what a great track it was.

It puts me in another place everytime I hear it.

Pure class!

Red Sun is of course another alias for Red Jerry, hence why it's such quality!

Red Sun - This Love

(Longredsun Mix)

Back with a bang (again!)

First post in a long while, apologies I've just been real busy of late.

Anyway back with a real banger and surprised I've not posted this before now.

It's a real stomper of a track with a lush WoW remix.

A big track in 1995 it still sounds fabulous today.

Get on it!

R.I.P. Dance music pioneer!

Sorry to hear of the passing of Vangelis this week aged 79.

Unquestionably one of the most pioneering dance music forefathers.

He created tracks which could be rivalled by no other for their uniqueness and just astounding quality.

Alpha will always be one of my favourite tracks and one which always raises spirits and puts me "in another place"

The build up of this track, is just pure delight and the peak at 4.12 is spine-tingling!

I know I've posted this track before, but it is certainly worthy of a re-post!

R.I.P great one!

Vangelis - Alpha

Nothing lasts forever!

Fantastic remix of one of my favourite Roxy tracks.

Bryan's vocals are superb on this and the beautifully subtle piano chords are just bliss.

Not surprised to find out that Ray Mang was involved in this remix.

A wonderful reworking from 2007.

Heavenly!

Want some Jungle Kisses??

Totally love this track, so funky and groovy.

Great memories of Oakey playing this back in 1993.

Such a great track and very different.

Can't believe I've not posted this previously.

Funky as hell and impossible not to like!

Get on it!

Co-Imperial, Co-Imperial!

Used to love this one back int'day from 1991.

It was a quality piece of Hip-House with a really catchy chorus.

Co-Imperial, Co-Imperial!

Still sounds ace!

I always remember if being a big Vertigo track.

Get on it!

I don't want to get over!

Another fantastic track from the evergreen legend that is Diana, to think this first came out in 1976.

This Frankie remix is just perfection.

The tracks starts off slowly and is very laid back, but is oh so beautifully velvet and smooth, with some sublime piano, then half way through it increases tempo and becomes more housey.

Total Frankie genius - R.I.P - the true house legend!

I've also posted the Eric Kupper remix from 2020 which is more upbeat still and although not as good as Frankie's version is still very tasty.

Enjoy!

Diana Ross - Love Hangover

Diana Ross - Love Hangover

(Eric Kupper Remix)

Rise again!

A truly fantastic track which is totally timeless.

From 1979 it is over 40 years old and still sounds amazing.

That combination of piano and trumpet is just heaven.

The DJDiscoCat does what he always does with his Disco Purrfection Versions and makes great, that little bit better.

This is 10 minutes plus of pure gold1

Enjoy!

Herb Alpert ~ Rise

(Disco Purrfection Version)

No more pain!

Superb track and superb remix.

Hats off to the Thunderpuss guys, they did a great job on this track.

I always loved Mary, she was such a talent and when her tracks were remixed they were sensational.

Love the way this speeds up half way through and adds that extra energy and fizz.

Quality!

Get on it!

Missing you, oh Missing you!

Huge track from 1991.

This was one of those tracks which was played for months in clubs, by all the top jocks.

Leftfield were going through a real purple patch with their remixes and everything they touched at that time was dancefloor gold and so in the moment of that early 90's clubland vibe.

31 years on this still sounds superb.

Get on it!

Ultra NatĆ© - Deeper Love

(The Leftfield Vocal Mix)

Barry or Donna?

Barry or Donna what's it going to be?

Anything but Take That.

Two superb versions of one fantastic track.

Barry's original came out in 1973 and was covered by Donna in 1976, when those Take That chappies were still at kindergarten!

I think the Donna version just pips it for me, her vocals are out of this world.

The Barry remix is from 1997 and is a great piece of work.

Barry Manilow - Could It Be Magic

(Unreleased Extended Dance Mix)

Donna Summer - Could It Be Magic

(Full Version)

Is this how it's got to be?

A classic track from 1997.

I always thought Sybil should have been bigger than she was as she had great vocal prowess.

A couple of great mixes hear of a track which should have been much bigger.

The Mark Picchiotti mix is just oozes class, it's long at nearly 12 mins but pretty epic.

The LME remix is typical of their style, high octane with lots of great piano and their familiar uplifting stylee!

Both great tracks.

Enjoy!

Sybil - Why

Sybil - Why

(Lisa Marie Vocal Experience)

Oh yeah, I got it!

A slightly ravey track from 1992.

You feel it's going a bit off track at times e.g. a bit too ravey, but that superb piano keeps that real old skool appeal.

Real hands in the air old skool, tried and tested on the UK's dancefloors, especially up North!

Sunset Regime - I've Got The Real Feel

Progressive perfection?

After a slightly "questionable" last post, I'm back with a bang.

This is a real bona fide PCC and was a true banger back int'day.

This was at the forefront of the Progressive House movement back in 1993, the fact that it still sounds so fresh and amazing today, is testament to it's ageless quality.

Just wait until the piano towards the end of the track, it just gets better and better!

This was a huge track back in 1993 and remains so.

Trends are temporary - class is permanent!

Rejuvination - Requiem

I'm not trying to avoid you!

A touch poppy and commercial but still very good and just credible enough to be on the PCC blog.

Superb vocals and a beautiful ethereal feel.

A subtle remix from Tin Tin Out which doesn't deter from the original but just gives it enough dance feel.

At just under 4 mins it feels a bit short, but still very endearing.

Lene Marlin - Sitting Down Here

(Tin Tin Out Remix)

These pianos are gold!

Quality bit of Piano Gold from 1993.

Bang, the piano hits you from the first second and stays for most of the track.

House music doesn't have to be overly complex, all that's needed is a good groove, a great bit of piano, a few snares and high hats, throw in a few choice vocals/samples/snippets and you are there.

The skill is putting it all together and making it sound great, which this track does.

Quality house music.

Enjoy!

Jovonn - Pianos Of Gold

In my mind I'll always be his lady!

Another high quality Freemasons remix (aren't they all? - Yeah, pretty mix).

This ones from 2005.

As their usual style it contains a really catchy loop which is repeated throughout tinged with some great vocals.

It's not quite as pumping as some of their remixes, but is very smooth and nicely done.

In my mind I'll always be his lady!

In my mind I'll always be his girl!

Heather Headley - In My Mind

(Freemasons Club Mix)

He's got a crush on my best friend!

Back with yet another classic from the divine Ms. Summer from 1977.

Pretty much everything she did was superb and this in no different.

Covered admirably by Sophie Lawrence in the 80's nothing compares to the original Donna track.

Furthermore this version by the supremely talented DJDiscoCat is just so on the money.

Disco never dies.

Donna Summer - Love's Unkind

(Disco Purrfection Version)

I know you're feeling lousy!

Great piano banger this one from 1995.

Lots of good remixes of it also, although I'd say this one edges it.

Great vocals, great lyrics, loads of piano and a real uplifting house tempo.

What's not to love?

Get on it!

Respect to the legends that are Simple Minds!

I went to see Simple Minds (a band who I have always loved) in Leeds last night and they were superb.

This was one of the highlights and although not one of their most famous tracks it is definitely one of their best. This is from 1981 and was totally ground-breaking at the time mixing synths and guitar.

It was also huge in many UK clubs in the late 80's and was a big fave at Shoom and other quality acid house clubs and parties.

Simple Minds - Theme For Great Cities

Due to it being such a fantastic track it was also copied and sampled many times and many of these new remakes and remixes were also huge club tracks also worthy of PCC status.

Probably the best and the most widely played was the great version from Corporation of One from 1988, especially the Oppy mix which contains all the great Tony Montana samples from Scarface and elements from Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

Corporation Of One - Real Life

(Oppy Mix)

The original mix of this track is also superb and doesn't contain all the samples and snippets and was probably the most widely played out in clubs.

Corporation Of One - Real Life

(Original Mix)

Another credible version which was released in 2001 was the Joey Negro influenced Raven Maize version which provides a bit of a heavier club beat/feel, and is very much an updated copy of the original Simple Minds version with the Real Life Queen vocal sample added. Still a great track though.

Raven Maize - The Real Life

(Club Mix)

Finally, to finish off the sequence their is also a very credible remix by Moby which is pretty much the Simple Minds version, but with a updated 2000s Depeche Mode-esque synth feel.

Simple Minds - Theme For Great Cities 2012

(Moby Remix)

All in all. all are great tracks in their own right, but all must pay homage, respect and their dues to the original brilliance to Simple Minds who over 40 years ago (1981) created a true ground-breaking masterpiece that it is still revered and highly regarded to this day by the club scene.

I need you more and more!

Another masterpiece from the legend that is Paul Gotel.

This is a huge track and was great in clubs, with a superb sing-a-long chorus.

Piano heaven throughout.

Pure class, enjoy!

Such a feeling!!

I need you more and more!

Erik - We Got The Love

(Paul Gotel Club Mix)

Hey body body!

This was a pretty big track in 1992 and was hammered by most the top DJ's at the time.

It takes a while to build, but that piano avalanche makes it all worth while.

E-Lustrious did some pretty good stuff in the early 90's and this is right on it.

Hey body body!

E-Lustrious Featuring Deborah French

- Givin' You No Rest

(In The Club Full On)

I've gotta go back!

Another track which should have been bigger.

A superb remix by D:Ream with Al McKenzie at the controls, most of his remix work was spot on and often unheralded.

This was a big track in 1993 and was a big fave of DJs like Sasha and John Digweed.

Exquisite vocals by the evergreen Deborah Harry (aka Blondie).

Just lovely!

Deborah Harry - I Can See Clearly

(D:Reamix)

Bond Theme-esque!

Staying on the Morales vibe, here's another stunning remix.

This time much later from 2013 and different to his normal piano tinged sound.

A really great track though with great vocals from Celine.

It has amazing energy and could quite easily be a Bond Theme song.

Enjoy!

Celine Dion - Loved Me Back To Life

(David Morales La Vie in Stereo Remix)

Catch me I'm falling!

Another fantastic remix from Mr Morales and again from 1992.

I love the whole concept of turning a naff song into a true club classic due to a superb piece of remix work.

This should have been bigger in clubs, but wasn't one I heard played out much.

How about you? Did you ever hear this played out?

It certainly wasn't big in the UK clubs, but should have been.

Enjoy!

Betty Boo – Catch Me

(12" Version)

I gotta go, don't go!

Quality track mainly due to the fantastic remix my Mr Morales.

This one was big in 1992 and was quite commercial, but this superb remix kept it very real.

The rap is on the more commercial side of Hip-House, but still pretty slick.

Enjoy!

There's only one message - Love is the message!

I know I've posted a version of this before, but just had to re-post this fantastic remix by the legend that is Steve Anderson.

Hi remixes whether with BiR or on his own are always superb and this is no different.

Great track, great rap, glorious piano, top notch remix.

Enjoy!

Love Inc - Love Is The Message

(The Ideal Solution - Love, Peace And Harmony

Steve Anderson DMC Remix)

Tribal in the house!

Used to love this track and still do.

Huge back in 1991 and well ahead of it's time, a real forebearer of the future tribal house sound.

That piano is spellbinding.

Pure class, as you'd expect on the PCC blog!

The Holy Ghost Inc - Mad Monks On Zinc

Everybody!

Another banger from 1989.

This one feels much more like an Italian piano track circa 1991.

Quality stomping piano from start to finish.

It has shades of Black Box, don't you think?

Enjoy!

Eleonor - I Just Need Your Body

(Vocal Version)

Love the New Beat!

Love this old New Beat track from 1989.

The sound is just so raw, but so authentic.

You feel as though it is getting a touch repetitive, but then the piano break kicks in and totally makes it the corker that it is.

Digital Vamp - You Can Take My Body

(Vamp Dance Mix)

Keep your ego in check!

Great track and of course sublime remix from Steve Silk.

Just classic house music.

Love Chantay's vocals and the pulsing house groove of this.

I miss ya

Lovely!

Chantay Savage - Don't Let It Go To Your Head

(Silk In The House 12")

Ready to start the revolution?

Cracking trance track from 2002.

Thumping and pounding as we like them.

It contains an infectious energy.

Get on it!

BK - Revolution

(Original Mix)

Check it, check it out!

Lots of familiar samples and snippets hear, but that doesn't detract from it's appeal.

A cracking old skool track, maybe lacking in originality but not spirit.

Another one from 1991 which was certainly the year of the Italian House classics.

Check it, check it out!

Agent X - Get Yourself Together

He is indeed the voice!

Possibly one of the best tracks of the last decade.

Yes, that good.

This is a true masterpiece.

Pure quality from start to finish, the beautiful piano intro and then the violins kick in and along with a ferocious energy which continues all through the track.

Just an amazing track.

Get on it!

The Black Madonna - He Is The Voice I Hear

This one will educate, inform and inspire!

Don't you just love it when you come across a track you haven't heard for ages, one you've forgotton all about and one you totally love?

Well here is such a track.

A monstrous Sasha track back int'day.

It's just sheer class from start to finish.

Be patient with it as it is a slow build up, but my goodness is it worth it.

A simply fantastic track and so, so good to hear again.

This one will educate, inform and inspire!

Love it!

Enjoy!

Always a slave to the vibe?

Another Hacienda classic, hammered by Parky.

I know this one crossed over and went commercial, but this version has always a true PCC.

Great vocals, a great rhythm with those crunchy 4/4 beats and some real catchy hooks.

A classic house track.

Still sounds great all these years on - hard to believe it's nearly 30 years ago - it feels like yesterday.

Aftershock - Slave To The Vibe

(12" Club Mix)

Raise your hands!

Now there are some tracks which are just great tracks which sound great wherever you hear them.

Then there are some that only really work in clubs or some that are just so much better in clubs.

This one is of the latter type.

I remember this at the Hacienda in 1993 when Parky dropped it and it was one of the most exciting moments ever.

They played around with the speakers and acoustics circulated the sound around the club and for a few minutes when the sirens came on (at 4.10mins in) I actually thoughts the club was being raided by the police.

It was spooky and mega exciting at the same time, the whole dancefloor then just erupted.

Oh to be back there experiencing that again!

Great track courtesy of the 3 maestro's Rocky, Diesel and Ashley Beedle.

They were on fire with their tracks and DJing in 92 and 93.

Raise your hands - indeed!

Enjoy!

Feel the inspiration!

A great piece of  classical house music from 1994.

Some really deep soulful vocals and lyrics from Arnold Jarvis, which were supposedly about his friend who had cancer.

Usual top drawer production from Kerri C.

Great track.

Far from the darkest hour!

A truly stunning track. courtesy of yet another spellbinding WoW remix.

Hats off to Nick and Jody, those boys knew how to make music.

Fantastic vocals by Charlotte OC a superstar in the making.

Everything about this track just oozes class.

Lovely!

Charlotte OC - Darkest Hour

(Way Out West Remix)

Hold me baby, drive me crazy!

Dance music doesn't have to be pumping and throbbing to be quality.

This is a superb acapella which sounds great both on it's own or mix over or into tracks.

Great vocals, great lyrics and just a great feel.

Hold me baby, drive me crazy!

Oh Yeah!

Cathy Dennis - Touch Me (All Night Long)

(Rhodesapella)

Where is the sunshine?

Fantastic piece of trance from 1999, when Tiesto was right on it.

I used to love the "fizzy", "fuzzy" squelch of this track which was typical of a lot of Tiesto's sound.

This still sounds good 23 years on.

Pulsing, throbbing, bangin'!

All that's missing is the sunshine!

(Here in wet and windy, wintry old England)!

Balearic Bill - Destination Sunshine

(DJ Tiƫsto Power Mix)

Show me how to dance!

Every now and then I'm inclined to post a bit of cheese on the PCC blog.

Well here it is, as it's been a while since the last piece of Edam.

They don't come any cheesier than this.

However, it is still a very catchy little track with a great rap by Princessa and some delightful piano.

Worthy of PCC status?

By the skin of it's teeth!

Bingoboys Featuring Princessa – How To Dance

(Extended Radio Version)

Got me comin' up!

Another fine piece of house music from 1995.

Great vocals, superb 4/4 beats and some delightful piano.
